Luxury Items - Potential Game Addition

I think this would be useful! I myself wouldn’t be able to buy them, but it would be nice for the wealthy players. :)

I love all of these ideas! Especially having a feature horse and decorative items as well. Another idea is maybe have a stable pet for a horse? It would purely be cosmetic but I think that would be cool to have a little puppy, or kitten image in there. Maybe even have the ability to put a foal in the horse's image too? I don't know how that would all work but I know that it would be purely cosmetic :)

I like this idea, especially things like custom backgrounds and decorations. One way I've seen this handled in other games is that you pay a fee for the custom item, which is then created and delivered to you, but after that it's possible to buy it in game shops or similar, so other people can get it too. Essentially instead of buying a unique item that only you will possess (or be able to purchase?), you're paying to have a certain item added to the game. Maybe we could have both types of custom items (which would obviously be priced differently)?

So for example, if I adore the idea of a particular background, but it's unlikely to be added to the game any time soon, or maybe isn't even being considered, then I could buy that as the second type of custom item, so it gets added relatively quickly and it's now in the game for anyone to use, and can easily be purchased in the general store.

Another example, I could buy a custom colouring of some tack (e.g. gypsy driving tack), so all the tack I use on my horses could be in a colour/pattern unique to my stable. This would be the first type of unique item, so it wouldn't be possible for other people to buy it in the shops, just me.

Sounds like a great idea. But I'm with the others on the stud/brood boosting. But the "random horse for stud/brood being displayed on the starting page" sounds like the perfect alternative for that.

I feel rather dubious about custom items, because of the logistics (needing an artist on hand, for example, and making that person drop everything to produce some custom piece - it feels impractical for this purpose). The aim here is to come up with some features and/or specific set items that could be produced and then made available for purchase, not something that would need to be whipped up on an individual basis.

That being said, the possibility for dyeing tack (in a set variety of colours) is out there so part of that suggestion may come into being, but in a different manner.

To add to Abigail's suggestion about stable pets; quite a lot of horses have goats as companions. A little Pygmy goat could look quite cute as a little decoration add on to a horses stall .... but then I love Pygmy goats so I'm biased!

I can certainly see companion animals as a decorative item working out well - that seems like it should be do-able.

Now that more people have mentioned potential issues with the stud/brood/sales issue, i do much prefer the possible random featuring than my original suggestions.

another possibility, since you mention not adding as many items - what about making pre-existing items more useful? For example, a spectral drought they could revive a horse that’s already died twice (rather than once)? Or a special “second use” time twister that can de-age a horse an additional week? Loki’s daggers that work on geldings? 

some of those might have some issues attached that I haven’t considered, but they’re what occurred to me spur of the moment :) 

<sup>I like the idea of having pets to decorate the horse images with, since we already have tack and special clothing items available, some sleepy rump cats would be adorable ♥/ I also love the idea of horns/wings being a luxury decorative item, you could get away with just having 1 set of wings recoloured for all breed colours and resized/flipped rather than being individually drawn, a plain white/black horns would be simple enough to draw in (but I just like that kind of stuff and will lobby for it regardless c;).

  I know tack dye has been something planned for a long time now (still excited for it) but I'd also love some special decorative tack as a luxury item, no stat bonuses of course just very pretty and act exactly like normal tack. I'd much rather see this suggestion added before a personal hall of fame personally but it's also a cool idea, my only worry would be page clutter if it's on your own homepage. I would suggest a ticker of sorts to advertise random horses for sale/stud in the sidebar, one horse per person for a small fee for 24 hours or so as an alternative to pinning paid horses to the top of a search, as long as it's not stagnating on one horse and could easily be monopolised by the same few people, as well as the random horse at the top of the list, but I'd like for it to be turned on/off, if I'm looking for something specific I don't want to see a horse out of order that I'm more likely to ignore/miss.</sup>

I would say those ideas won't work quite as well, because again those would provide an advantage in-game, and part of the goal with luxury items is for them to be non-necessary and not enhance gameplay, but only provide a nice to have or act in a cosmetic fashion. Anything that builds off of current items would be too 'purposeful', so to speak.

What about minor horse appearance modifications? 
Dye for manes and tails? (maybe the whole body?)
ribbons, braiding, different lengths of hair?

I would blow so much cash on all of these things. For boosted sales or stud/brood, i agree that it would give a play boost but maybe if they're only featured for a week or two so there's incentive to buy the luxury without it being this huge boost? or only five featured horses max on the page and you're buying the right to be randomized into that list (makes sense in my head, dunno how to explain it in words).

OMG YESS. I love Kahzie's suggestion on appearance modification! I breed horses with limit colors so I have a lot of horses that looks exact same. I would love to give each unique characteristic on their appearance such as different lengths of manes, etc!

Speaking as a person with a lot of money.... I have 47 million(and growing) sitting in my bank account... I would spend those money on stable registry and appearance modification in heartbeat XD.

As for Hall of Fame, I probably will wait before spending my money on that feature (it depends on how it works and etc).

All I am asking is to include deceased horses to those features. I would love to customize my deceased horses and add them to breed registry/hall of fame.

EDIT:
in long term, maybe add new breed arts based on genders aka Stallion Breed Art and Mare Breed Art for each breed. Members can pay certain amount to add that feature to all horses in their stable (not individually). (think of a certain lion sim game and their 3 cub stages breed art)

I believe Abbey was considering adding 'hair styles' (if you will) for manes and tails, so that could be something that would be a more widely available feature rather than a luxury one, but I won't know that for sure until we have a chance to talk the whole concept through a little bit.

Overall it seems there is good support for some of these ideas being added, so I think we're on to something. c;
