What happen to the stud market? I have never seen stud prices so low. What is the pricing guides for horses you want to put to stud?

I put them 10k per 100 stats, but will sometimes half it if the color isn't the more desirable (I,e grey). I think the horse market as a whole isn't doing well so must people feel like it's the only way to make money, either that or they're new and don't understand.

Yikes! Just took a look at the twh prices...nothing over 1200 stats! And BAD prices. I just put a ton of mine at fair price...i don't need the money and hopefully it will help the market...

I wondered this as well. I noticed there are a LOT of 3/4 yo horses obviously with the starting stats they were born with up for stud in a number of the breeds  I raise.

Its got to the point where some stallys are so cheap they have like 38 foals by the age of 12 & it puts me off so Im finding it hard to get some outside blood into my Dutchies which is a shame.

I think there should be a pricing guide for new players coz I STILL never know how to value a horse for stud/selling & Ive been here 6 years.

I used to put my 1000 stat studs up for $50-65K normal colours $65-85k for perlinos/cremellos. They wouldnt get loads of interest but then I dont breed my stallys for money. But it was nice to see their lines continued in at least more than 1-2 foals of my own. Now I find they get no interest so I did drop the prices (which anoys me for selling out!) now they range from $20-35k normal cols $35-50k perlinos/cremellos & still no dice but Im not dropping prices any further.

You want a quality non inbred/overbred lined pony with decent overall stats & low none specific stats; step my way. You want a cheap $1-5k 1000 stat stud; don't!

^ same

i sell my horses for 10k per 100 stats and i have a 900 stat welsh pony up for sale for 60,000 and still no bids like thats crazy cheap lol

but what is so frustrating is finally finding a decent stud and they accountholder hasn't been on in weeks to roll over their account D:

and my quarter horse studs get used for the amount of foals i want them to (3-4 foals) so that's good and i refuse to lower their prices because i work so hard on my herd ;n;

I price my studs/broodmares at 10k/100 stats, then halve it (as you are basically getting half the horse). Then I'll add/take away a few thousand k according to confo and color. :)

I'm still relatively new to the game (started playing in october) so my first foundies are only just starting to reach the age where I need to start thinking about breeding, but the stud market really is a mess right now and I'm seriously considering just keeping my lines private for the time being. it's been hell finding TWH studs that aren't godawful and/or massively overbred and I still haven't ended up with a foal that I'm truly happy with, ugh.

(thanks marigold for adding those new studs, btw! I'll be taking a looksie in a few weeks)

I put my studs up for pretty low prices because they are also one of my main sources of income. As much as I would love to do the 10k/100 stats rule, it just doesn't work in the market anymore. Because of that I price my studs at 20k-25k and my broods at 30k-35k, and most of them have 900+ stats.
As for selling, I sell the foals I do not want for 25k but lower it to 20k if not sold within a week or two. Note that their stats are typically 500+. I haven't had to keep an unwanted foal yet because of my own prices. Sadly, it is considered cheap but it brings in the EVD.

I don't usually set my personal horses up for stud unless someone asks about them but generally I still fall back on my 50k base and +/- rather arbitrarily from that based on how good the horse is overall, in my herd and how much I like it anywhere from 35k to 100k. I do get requests via pm quite a bit about some of them which is totally fine by me and I can usually work something out with people, but it's not worth the hassle for me personally to place studs on the open market when I have so many horses and can barely keep track of my own breeding days!
That said though I do still have some leftover studs from when I used to have a bunch of them those are all standard when they hit 12 years old if they have over 600 stats they get put up at 8k, then incrementally rise in price each time they are bred to.

Personally I hate the 10k per 100 stats rule everyone seems to follow because newer players don't have that much and most others don't want to pay that much now that we're so high up in the stats range with a lot more money sinks. I actually made a Horse Price Calculator via google sheets ages ago but I don't think I ever rolled it out to share! If anyone wants to take a look here's the original version: Link to Sheet

I have noticed this, too! I just got into Chincoteagues but am now thinking that might not have been a good idea after checking out the stallions available for public breeding. The highest price I saw for a stud fee was $20k! The rest were under $10k. Appalling! It is sad that money can't be made by breeding quality horses anymore in a horse breeding SIM.

I do understand that new players can not afford $100k stud fees. However, having nicer horses is a GOAL. If one starts with nice stock or access to the best for dirt cheap, it makes the game boring as it lacks progression. When I was new, I *certainly* wasn't expecting handouts. And if I wanted a horse, I saved for it.

Generation of instant gratification, on a platter.

Amnesiac - of course! I was traveling the last month so I haven't been around. And all the other TWH breeders are also locked :[

You're probably thinking of the EV Market tool with the herd cost generator thingy. I don't think I ever put this one out because I had to change the settings  for others to view it before grabbing the link! xD
I was going to expand it to include a bunch of different pricing methods like the 10k/100stats one, and my arbitrary plus minus and a couple from other people that sounded interesting. So people could see a lot of different methods and pick the one that worked best for them, or mix and match to get averages, but I never got around to it! That might have to be a project for the new year along with editing the game guides into forum posts ;]

I feel like the market has crashed, both for studs and for foals.

Luckily I don't have to rely on studs & sales to make an income, but it is frustrating to see that some players are putting stallions op for public stud at very low prices and basically pushing others out of the market. It also can create a big influx foals on the market that seem to be worth looking at but then every single one of them turns out to have the same stallion in their pedigree...
With clydesdales it is very hard to find a good foal that doesn't have Griswold in it's pedigree because he is so overbred.

Personally I prefer not offering stud services at all over under-pricing and overbreeding my studs in order to make a decent profit.
I'm keeping my prices high. Players who are serious about the game and have a good breeding and showing strategy can afford to pay a good price for a quality stud or foal.
As for newer players not being able to pay for those studs or foals... well, didn't we all start out like that? Just like in real life, if you want something nice you need to work for it.
