This suggestion has been marked as "Added To The Game". Thank you, Tyr, for the suggestion and to those of you who supported for making Equiverse better!

I've noticed that there's this ever-increase of unwanted horses.  Searches are clogged up with $1 or super cheap horses, and adoption centers are hopping. So I propose another way to "dispose" of horses that may not be up to par with the rest of your show string.

This may have been in place before my time, but hear me out!  This is a breeding (and showing) game, so of course there will be an influx of horses to try to make that perfect showstring.

There could be a "Send Out of Town" or "Sell to Horse Trader" option (because "Send to Slaughter" sounds too cruel, pixels or not!) and would remove horses from the game permanently , but stay in the list in your foals bred.  The link of the horse send away would lead to maybe a page with a generic image and what color the horse was and how old it was before it was sent away.

The  Trader could also offer a very minimal reward as a "thank you" for freeing up some server space.  Not enough to Horse-mill and make money off of, but enough to make it worth your while.  Maybe 1k? 800-900? (800-900 would probably be more feasible so that people just don't create new horses at 1k, and then sell to horse trader if its not the color they want.)

This could also go in conjunction with the "selling items back to the store" suggestion!  Maybe what we don't know is that the General Store owner has a brother who's in the Horse Trading business.  Maybe even you have the option to trade in a horse for things like tack/treats instead?

This will make horse prices a bit more valuable, and hopefully see less of the $1 pons in search!

I would just want to send mine to 'early retirement' where they would either be visible until they turn 22 or just turn 22 into my former horses.

The only thing is I would want some sort of cap or restrictions. It would suck to have someone buy my horses just to send them out of the game immediately.

Maybe removing the $500 fee on the RC would serve the same purpose with less coding? If the horse isn't adopted from the RC after 3 days it gets deleted. I truly think the $1 horses are a symptom of people not wanting to pay $500 each to drop their unwanted horses off in the RC.

The RC used to be free, Abbey put the fee to try to prevent people (like myself, haha) who would make 2-300 foundation horses, take the colors/confos we want, then dump them all in the RC to get deleted in a few days.  It prevents players who don't have as much spending money, but still wouldn't deter me overall if I wanted to make a foundation herd again.

On the old EV there was a deletion option for horses that would remove them from the game completely, I would be fine with that returning.  That being said, it's not very realistic as you can't really just delete horses off the face of the earth to remove them from a pedigree, and agree that an early retirement option, where I could technically remove them from the game (but not the pedigree) and they wouldn't be taking up space.  I'd especially like it when I'm buying parent sets and/or trying to keep excess mares from becoming overbred and ruining my lines.

I don't like selling foals that I want to cull off, in case someone would buy them or pick them up from the RC for their stats/color/confo, then breed them extensively.  I try to keep my lines relatively exclusive since the breeds I'm in are considerably overbred and inbred.  A retirement option (or just some way to remove them from the game in general) would be better for me.

I also don't think there should be a cap.  If someone wants to buy a horse that is being sold, and then immediately deletes/retires it, they paid for it and it's theirs.  It's incredibly unfortunate, and I would probably be a bit miffed myself, but if I didn't want to leave it up to other player's discretion what they did with the horse I wouldn't be selling it.  All you can do is write up some guidelines you'd like them to follow and hope for the best.

Birchwood- Unfortunately, I feel like someone buying a horse to send them out of the game is just part of the game.  Once someone purchases a horse, someone can't really dictate what you do with that horse.  It stinks, sure, but maybe would encourage the seller to up the price that its for sale at, or just to send it out of the game.

North- I don't think that putting them in the adoption for free would really solve the problem though, even if they get deleted after 3 days.  I think that would still mean more horses floating around, and the Adoption center getting clogged up with a lot of horses.

Nittrous, I agree with you- You don't always want someone else to have a culled horse.

Sure, its a great newbie start horse, but realistically, speaking from a fairily new person, can just as easily make a new horse for 1k. It's not hard to make that amount, and you start off the game with a decent amount so a 1k horse really isn't an issue.

The Rescue Center isn't clogged up, not at all. There's barely ever any of the breeds I breed in the Rescue Center, and it's better to give others a chance to get a horse that might be a lot more useful. It's much cheaper for new players to get a horse for $200 from the Rescue Center than $1000 from the Equine Center, and with the Rescue Center, you can know what the horse will look like before you get it, unlike in the Equine Center. If this was added, almost no one would use the Rescue Center, which isn't very full even now. Just because one person doesn't need it, a great horse might be deleted, instead of being giving to someone who wants it. There's nothing wrong with a lot of horses in the Rescue Center.

I was too shy to say it myself, but I 100% agree with PoniesStars.

Maybe reduce the fee to the rescue center? $200 instead of $500?

I support the "horse trader" idea. Some horse games have this feature - I find it very useful. Players use it to get rid of horses they don't want to/can't keep but which they don't want to go to other players (And don't want the other players to get access to their bloodlines, etc. I use this sort of feature myself, too.). I think it would be useful on EV as well.

I recently got foals which I decided to sell, but can't seem to be able to sell them! I don't want to pay $500 to get rid of them, either. (Not good for my bank account! lol) The "horse trader" feature would help with this!

Maybe the "horse trader" could pay a small amount for the horse as Tyr suggested? I think $800 - $900 might be a bit too much, though. Maybe $500 - $750 per foundation horse? The price could depend on the stats and conformation of the horse? More money for a better stat/confo horse.

Does no one remember when we had Shifty Jim? Ill have to see if i have an old image on photobucket of him lol He was basically what everyone is talking about. And people did cheat that system a bit, buying store horses and then trading it in automatically.

And I'm thinking that shifty jim was taken away and the rc implemented so ppl had a chance at the horses that you didn't want amymore...

I think if the horse trader would become an option, it should be 250-500 for "buying" a foundation horse, that way you're only making back 1/4 to 1/2 of what you paid for it.  Then there could be a stat/confo/color algorithm maybe, for how to pay for other horses.  Or simply make it a flat 1k.  If it's too high for non-foundations people will simply buy rescue center horses to resell to the trader.

Maybe a weekly horse-sale limit of 5?  No one should have too many more culled foals than that, or can do multiple weeks to cull instead.

If you are really worried about your bloodlines you can neglect horses to death - it takes time but does serve the purpose.

I think if a horse trader paid any more than the RC costs, people would buy up all the RC horses to make some profit.

Free RC dump plus the continued ability to kill your own horses really seems to solve the problem with few loopholes to abuse.

@Notori - I remember Shifty Jim. I must be getting old!

Anyhow initially I supported this suggestion but after a few days further thought I may have changed my mind as I have been starting a few lines up using just RC foundation horses the 1st generation of which most of them hit 750 stats & a few stand outs with 950 stats with regular training etc. So RC horses aren't totally useless! They are a cheaper alternative for newer or whimsical players like me who gets the urge to start a new line every so often.

For sake of argument as long as the selling fee to a character like shifty jim is less than a store horse or a rescue centre is worth so no one can make a profit on a rescue without some degree of work/effort then there shouldn't be a problem (so called slaughter houses im talking about you a $200 Rc for $10k just because it might "die" - isn't that fraud or obtaining money by deception??!!) I personally don't fall for it but younger/newer/more heartfelt players might.

IE store horse bought at $1k sold to RC for $500 bought from RC for $500 then IF sold onto a shifty jim guy for $200. In essence raise the RC fee a bit to discourage people just buying all Rc horses to sell on for a small but quick profit.

I'm happy to try reducing the Rescue Center fee and see if that helps.
