Different training techniques: Stat gain results

#108504 Posted on 2017-06-11 05:28:25

With all the new developments on EV since the recode (new treats, training conversion, riding school...) I was wondering what training technique would give the best results for stat gain.
So I tried out several techniques with several groups of horses to find out what works best.

I tracked the stat gain of 3 individual horses per group for 15 weeks.
I know that to show some real significant results I should have tracked a larger group of horses instead of just these groups of 3. But this data might be helpful to some.
I'm sure there are some players out there who would calculate costs, point gain & average stat gain... but I'm too lazy for that :p

From the age of 15 I'm entering them all in shows & feeding normal stats because I'm old fashioned and I like points, first places & the fancy ribbons.
Feel free to check the ponies out on my home page if you want to check out their progress.

All horses were given treats, trained and showed or schooled daily.
All of them are foundation horses.
In the rare case that no shows were available my show horses were schooled.

You can drag & drop the tables into the address bar to enlarge them!

All of these horses were bought from the EC before foal training was implemented!

Results - Showing in popular & less popular disciplines:

Jotunheim - Clydesdales

These guys were given hay cubes as foals & were converted at age 3 and have been entered in shows every day.
At the moment there are 14518 horses competing in driving.

I only had 3 foundies in my clyde group, so this is all the data I have.

Update - Stats at retirement:

Bachelier - 945
Bacchus - 978
Bad Birnbach - 1082

Seventh Circle - Friesians

The good old fashioned way: Normal treats for foals & adults and daily entering in shows.
They had less stats when they started showing, but in the end it looks like they caught up with the horses that had been fed hay cubes as foals.
With
21190 dressage horses this is the most popular discipline with a lot of showing competition.

Out of 10 foundation Friesians (now at age 16) that have been trained with this technique, the horse with the lowest stats has 704 stats.
The horse that did best has 933 stats. HUGE difference between highest & lowest.

Update - Stats at retirement:

Aamon - 950
Asakku - 1033
Abaddon - 1036

Trinidad Speedway - Tekes
And again the old fashioned way: Treats and shows.

However, with only 7871 competing in racing, there is a lot less competition. Doesn't look like that has had a lot of effect on their stats though.

Out of 10 foundation Tekes (now at age 16) that have been trained with this technique, the horse with the lowest stats has 723 stats.
The horse that did best has 966 stats.

Update - Stats at retirement:
Scotch Bonnet Red - 1073

(I missed the breeding date on Hungarian & Butch T, so I deleted & forgot to record their retirement stats ...)

Results - Schooling with or without special treats:

Green Garden - Shetlands

These were fed normal treats & have been entered in riding school for 10 hours every day.
Looks like these guys have the poorest results.

Out of 11 foundation Shetlands (now at age 17) that have been trained with this technique, the horse with the lowest stats has 629 stats.
The horse that did best has 739 stats.

Update - Stats at retirement:
Abele - 863
Absinthe - 855
Adderworth - 837

Spookshow - Tekes

I fed these guys hay cubes & converted them at age 15.
They were entered in riding school for 10 hours every day.
Seems like I forgot to record their stat gain at age 7... and they made a huge leap between ages 6 and 8.
I was expecting this group to do best with the hay cubes and all, so I was a bit surprised to see that they didn't do as well as my other group of tekes.

Out of 6 foundation Akhal-Tekes (now at age 15) that have been trained with this technique, the horse with the lowest stats has 689 stats.
The horse that did best has 736 stats.

Update - Stats at retirement:
Alien II - 1024
American Psycho - 948
Amityville II - 1067

I usually do 5hrs schooling and 5 shows per each of my horses...makes me wonder how good it is now.

Very interesting! I wonder if we can move this to the game guides board so that we can easily find it in the future, rather than having it get buried once discussion ceases.

Can you do this again but with foals born with breeding? It would be interesting to see if the results would be different or not.

This is great info!

Interesting how some certainly caught up in stats to other groups, and which did not. Thank you for all of the info, including the update!
