*Show Entry Cap

#100992 Posted on 2017-04-14 07:13:39

Disclaimer: I apologize in advance if this has been mentioned before...

If I recall correctly, in the old version of EV, there used to be a cap on show entries for your own horses. I believe it was 4 horses at most in one show.

I would like to see this feature added to the new version or something of similar variation.

I'm 50/50 on this. On one side I agree but for this to work we would have to have a ton more shows to enter (maybe house shows and player based shows). What horses I do show I try to enter 2 or less but sometimes there isn't enough shows to do that with.

Haven't voted yet, but isn't it hurting yourself to enter more than 4 horses in the same show? Only 3 can place and gain from it, so any more horses entered won't get anything out of it, if their stats are weaker than the other three... makes much more sense to only show the ones with the best stats.

I even try not to have two horses showing in the same shows/in the same level.

It does hurt my showing results when shows fill. I use auto showing so I don't know which shows my horses are going in to. That is why I suggest a cap. The old number was 4. 4 is nice so if there are limited shows, generally you can still get enough of your horses entered.

I recently had 9 or 10 horses in 1 show. That is ridiculous. And a waste of time.

Ah right, I haven't spend credits on the auto showing tool, so didn't take that in account, but that does make sense.

Absolutely support this. I actually thought this was supposed to be brought back around the times shows were changed up. Since I use auto-show as well, it's often disappointing seeing so many of my horses filling up entire shows, even if I switch up the 'type' of entry I use (highest entry, cheapest, etc).

I never played with the old system, but I feel like 4 as max is too few. I thought the point of shows was to have the best horses win? Maybe 15+ horses would be too many, but I always like to see my horses win those shows. They bring in more winnings and it makes me feel like they're awesome. If I have horses that don't show as well, i always make sure to enter them into shows with the least entries or I put them in the riding school. I have a few horses that I actually enter into the shows with the most entries because they just show that well. I also assumed that horses that win these shows get more show points? But I could be wrong there, I'm not 100% sure how that works.

I'd really only support a limit if it was something like 8 or 10. But I might just be odd.

CheshireKitty, the limit would be on horses from an individual member, not the total number of horses in the show. That limit is already 15.

Well then, that makes a lot more sense. I obviously missed that part lol. My bad.

I support!
I manually put my horses into shows so that I only have two entered per show, but when I go to look back at the shows they placed in, I see people who have put like 7 of their horses into the same shows. It never really bothers me until I notice that all of their horses were in the last few places. I always end up feeling bad for them because of the EVD they wasted from it.

I think my preference would be for the cap to be 5 horses, so that if you're the only player showing in a given grade, you *could* still have enough horses in a show for there to be stat gain. (Since you need 5 horses to have a chance at that.)

Though I can see this creating a bit of an imbalance with how many shows are usually created for any given grade... like there are often only 10-20 available shows for most of the National level shows, and if I were limited to only 5 (or 4, or fewer) horses per show, I'd have a lot of horses that couldn't be shown at all. Of course, this would theoretically even out as people would hopefully make more shows if they were getting entries in them. [Or maybe I just need to build a ton more arenas so I can create enough shows, lol.]

Still, I do support. I get tired of having the bulk of my horses competing against each other, and their progress stalling out in part for that very reason.

I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand, I don't want tons of my own horses all in the same show together when I'm auto-showing, as it will harm their success. On the other hand, I've run out of shows before with the current system, and placing a cap on how many horses I can put in a single show will only make that worse.

Perhaps if the autoshow system was tweaked so that it would preferentially choose shows that had less than 4 of your own horses in them, but could still enter your horses in such shows if there was no alternative.

@UlyssesBlue, I could agree to something of that nature. Using Autoshow, even if selecting different "types" of shows still generally clumps my horses together, which, as you said, harms their success.
