*Show Entry Cap

If we went with that sort of system it may be nice if you could specify the cap yourself. That way those who only wanted a maximum of two of their own horses in a single show would be able to use autoshow. Or we could enter as many of our horses as possible in shows with this cap set to 1, then once those shows ran out, increase the cap to 2, and repeat. This method would spread our horses amongst the maximum amount of shows, without preventing some horses from showing entirely.

There should be a cap on the number of horses in the same show. I have seen a few horses sweep a show which is not all that fair for others in the same discipline.

There's already a cap on number of horses in a given show, I believe 15, unless I'm misunderstanding you, Magic Happens.

I very much like the idea of an adjustable cap on how many of your own horses to enter in a given show. Because like Ulysses Blue said, I fairly frequently run out of shows as-is, and I know that'll be even more prevalent if I'm limited to only a few horses per show. (Unless, as I mentioned above, I buy a ton of arenas, just so I can make more shows!) Although the market for shows would hopefully eventually even out, as long as more shows were getting entries and the show creators were making money.

Yes, so much support. The running out of shows now is not a problem because we have Rising Schools where horses can be entered in addition to shows.

The riding schools can *help* if you're short just a few shows, but shows provide MUCH better money, experience, and stats for horses that are competitive, so I would hate to be forced to rely on schooling. (It's certainly better than nothing, and is great for horses that aren't currently competitive for whatever reason, but it's definitely nowhere near as beneficial as showing.)

No. When I do manage to have time to enter my horses in shows, I often don't have enough, especially with the higher levels. This would make it more of a pain than it already is.

I support some form of... showing rework. I don't show any of mine because:
1) They're foundies, their stats are horrible.
2) I use auto show, I could literally fill out a whole show with just my horses.
3) They'd be gimping themselves as others explained.
4) I'm cheap :3

The whole showing system is... I don't know, I wouldn't call it bad, but do we really need 5000 grades? Theoretically, it's an easy way to introduce some form of player progression - a foal born already at L3 doesn't have to repeat earlier grades and you feel a sense of achievement when you get to Na/I.

Then there's the issue of not enough shows. Assuming a cap is implemented, you'd literally run out of shows.

Additionally, the game relies entirely on players running shows. I don't know if club shows work or not, but those need to be scheduled by a player as well and we can see how well clubs are doing right now.

Horse sim veterans would be familiar with some form of automated show system, where the game generates shows as a form of gold sink. Such a thing might be worked in somehow, with the alternative of reworking grades entirely so we have more shows and less separation into different levels.

Yes, some sort of auto-generated shows is needed. I locked my account because I don't have the time to sit on the game all day and hope someone makes shows. Yes, I make shows, but it's not enough to cover what I need. Honestly, the cap on how many shows people can make was highly detrimental.

Most of the time, when I'm finally home in the evening, the bulk of the shows have already been created, entered, and ran.

I try to create shows every day, but some days I don't because my previous shows haven't run yet, and I don't have the time to wait until they do. If our show creation limit was reset at cron time, rather than when shows finished running, this would improve the situation. A higher show creation limit could be justified as well. I only make about $5000 a day from the shows I create, so I can't see these adjustments as turning into some get-rich-quick scheme.

Perhaps a less tedious show creation method would encourage more people to create shows as well. I can imagine plenty of people who are short on time would just skip it.

I have noticed that as well, Ulysses, about the inability to create more shows if your current shows have not run yet.

And Kuk, I absolutely understand not having enough shows, especially later in the day.

Maybe I am thinking on too small of a scale as I have under 200 horses and I know some players have 300+.

I would appreciate a cap for a personal amount of horses per show but understandably, the show system needs a revamping for that to be added because it does seem, currently, that there are not enough shows being created at any given time.

I wouldn't have an issue with a horse cap per show if there was actually enough shows for everyone. I would truthfully prefer to have only one of my horses in each show, but this isn't usually possible.

I'd support an entry limit, but I think the main problem with showing is the lack of shows.

I'm going to admit that I usually forget to make shows when I'm not showing my own horses. The show creation feature is not the problem, it's quick and simple.
When I do show, I stop showing at the upper levels because they are always filled with lots of horses my own can't compete with. If there were more shows, there wouldn't be so high a pressure on the few that are made.

I've noticed my income from sources such as training and riding school has gone down by about half since the manual cron was instituted for everyone. I'm wondering if there is a little less incentive to come on each day, so we actually have less players on each day actively creating shows as well, which limits the range of shows out there to put horses in, even without a per-player cap. I haven't directly noticed a decline in the number of shows available, because it's always been pretty varied depending on the time of day I go to show, but it might be something that's going on as well. Even a few less players each day making shows can have a pretty significant impact.

The ridding schools money was lowered by Abby to create more of encouragement to show horses. Their are more shows available in the over $50 range, but I don't like to use them unless I have no choice. Now on this topic I like the idea of a cap. Because even though I don't have auto show I would now that I was not placing to many horses in the same show. Right now I just guess which ones I have fewer than four horses in.

Show system REALLY needs an overhaul....

In a lot of shows, I will usually have at least 10 horses in each show, if not more (like in example given above).

It costs a lot of money to enter shows and it isn't doing my horses any favors to be competing against themselves in every single show. Showing them is now starting to become a money sink....  :(
