In the rescue centre, when the list of horses comes up the colour is often described as Gray but when you click on the horse its clearly not gray and its profile will say its actual colour. It looks like this:

Not a glitch; all those horses are actually gray just like the RC says. However when you click their page it shows you their base color, because they are young and haven't yet turned grey. When they are 4 it will change to say Chesnut (graying) or Bay (graying) etc.

Of course because they're Andalusians! Hadn't thought of that initially.

It's not because they're Andalusians. Most horse breeds can be gray, and not all Andalusians are gray.

Horses aren't born grey, they're born a certain color - bay, chestnut, black, etc - and then grey out as they age. To keep it realistic, EV has the system that slowly greys the horse over time. When you look at the horse it'll tell you the color they are at the time, so foals will be shown as bay, chestnut, black, etc, and then once they hit 3y they'll begin to be shown as bay (greying). Horses shown in a list (so in your own horse lists, sales, or the rc) will be shown as grey, so you do know that the horse will eventually be grey.
