Equiverse is slow

#73274 Posted on 2016-10-24 20:30:08

Today (Monday), from 11:00pm EST until the time of this post, the site has been nearly unusable. Times outs, bizarre loads, having to do repetitive actions because it's non-functional. Right this moment it appears to be working, but losing half an hour because the site isn't working isn't much fun. :/

Before, and most of the time now, it's been fine, but sometimes lately I've had to click multiple times, it'll take a few seconds before it shows what I just typed, I'll have to refresh the page a few times before it'll load, things like that. Pretty small things, but big enough to get annoying. Right now it's working, though.

Now I've noticed that whenever I edit my home page and click "save", it takes a minute or so to load. But after that, it's fine. Probably just because I have a layout and lots of stuff in it >

Okay - I'm glad I am not the only one this is happening to. Soooo slow. I've experienced freezing/slowness when trying to logon (it takes about a minute or two to load from the time I submit my login information) and I also experience delays when releasing horses from riding school.

The vast bulk of slowness comes from the horse entry page, for me.

I have never had problems with the site being slow up until yesterday, when training was taking a while and auto-showing as taking forever. Even loading horse pages or getting to the forums was slow. It seemed better again this morning, but throughout the day the site has gotten slower and slower, and now it's back to how it was yesterday. It's not my internet cause everything else is loading fine.

I'm currently looking into this - hopefully it will speed up over the weekend as I make some optimisations around the site :)

I've had massive slowness when logging in, even when I've stayed logged in, after cron has run no matter how many notifications I actually get it's always bordering ten minutes to log in for me. Autocaring for horses ever since the treat system was added has been awfully slow, slower the more horses in a division. Autoshowing has only recently been slower than usual.

I see this was being looked into, and I understand that it's been the holidays but I'm still experiencing a major lag. Logging in takes FOREVER for me, especially if I'm logging in on chrome while mobile. However, the biggest issue lately has been showing for me. It takes a painful amount of time, and with 200+ horses I haven't been showing at much. I noticed it today when I was showing again though. Autocare also lags, but I have a ton of horses I expect that. Everywhere else runs at a decent pace, I get the occasional lag but nothing compared to the consistency when trying to autoshow.

I mean, if you have 200+ horses it's going to take a while to log in seeing as it needs to update every single horse you own when you log in. There's just nothing I can really do about that.

Autoshowing needs to update every horse, update all of their tack, create a new show entry, take the fee money - 10 times, once per show, and then with every page load it needs to load all of your horses again.

Loading pages themselves without any action taken shouldn't be a problem so I will look into any page that takes a long time just to load. I will otherwise try to optimise where I can, but I think owning that many horses is the main problem :P

The only time EV is actually slow is logging in for owning a million horses, and duh, when the rollover for the new days starts. Other than that everything is fine for me, but nothing that I can't wrap my head around as to why the site is doing it.

o-o

It may be slow at popular times of day, so when there are 60+ people online, but from what's being posted here it sounds like mostly specific pages where it takes a lot of resources to do something, e.g. load 300 horses, etc.
