Archaeological Field School!!!

I am sooo nervous and sooo excited at the same time, LOL!

So, this is why:

I went to visit the geosciences department last Friday at my future university (I'm transferring from a community college), and I had opportunity to sit through TWO classes and speak to several instructors, aside from the most important part, which was having lunch with a couple undergrad students. (I mean, food...yeah, man!) ;)

Well, later in that day, one of the instructors had lunch with someone from the anthropology department. For me, geology will be a minor, but anthropology is my primary major. I had been telling him how I wanted to ultimately attend the archaeological field school, but I had not completed the prerequisite, so it wouldn't be right away.

Guess what? The professor from the anthropology department requested to get in contact with me, and on Monday, we spoke over the phone. He told me he wanted me to apply now!!! WOOOHOOO!!!

What's even better, though? I realized when doing the paperwork that I had been asked by the DIRECTOR of the field school to apply!!!

I just turned in my paperwork yesterday, so fingers crossed I will get to do the fields school this summer!!! I mean, how cool is that? I will be helping to excavate a real, live archaeological site if I get in!!!

That's really awesome! I'm excited for you :) I think field archaeology sounds like a lot of fun, and that's so great that you got to speak with the director of the program. Even better that he asked you to apply!

I have my fingers crossed for you, and I really hope you get the opportunity to do field work this summer!

Me, too! I want to be an archaeolinguist, and this would be perfect for me! :D

I finished my Anthropology BA last year, it was amazing! The field schools I did really made my grad school applications stand out, so if that's a route you want to take, I totally recommend it! Plus field schools are so much fun (:
