Currently Trending Breeds?

#91027 Posted on 2017-02-04 09:31:36

While I'm sitting around raising my foundation herds, I can't help but find myself alittle "homesick" not having my old horses around. Soooo, I've been considering bringing a few out of lock to raise up, stud/brood out, and just let them age their life away.
The question is, what horses do I bring out? I wanted to get some opinions on what the horse market is leaning towards right now. I have a mix of horses including, but not limited to; White paints, some solid paints, colorful QHs, good stat clydes, my chestnut friesian line, 2 colorful morgan studs with promising stats... I have a jumble and I'm curious what to bring out and try to stud//brood, c:

What's trending; Confo? Stats? Color? Western? Jumping? Clydes? Shetlands?

Quarter Horses are always a popular choice, and always looking for good/fresh blood in the market. Because of the wide colors and markings available, they're usually a really popular choice overall, and have both newer member breeding them for fun and serious breeders that delve into every aspect of them (stats, color, confo, pedigree, etc.). Depending on the horses you have (stats, color, confo, pedigree length) there would be a good market for them across the board. Almost all QHs are western, and other specializations don't see much popularity.

Solid paints are popular with a lot of breeders, since the colors are interesting with and without markings. White paints are probably going to be on a decline of popularity overall, since you can easily get white paints from the EC now (probably a bit too easily, haha). Western is also the most popular specialization for paints, though there are small groups of Endurance and Show Jumping some people breed.
