Showing and Training

#91011 Posted on 2017-02-04 07:22:07

I have looked through the other help posts, but I'm not seeing the answer to my question so I'll go ahead and post something. If there's another post exactly like this point me in the direction! :)

I just joined about a week and a half ago, so I'm still new to it all. I read on one thread about how the show levels (Novice 1 etc) are obtained from their stat points, and that their training levels don't actually have anything to do with the show levels...but I'm still a little bit confused.

I have had a few horses (and this might be a glitch so sorry if it is!) that would be at like 152 but not have moved into Novice 2, is that normal? Or is there just a lag? If so, if I had entered them in shows earlier in the day when they were at like 149 and then maybe through treats or something they got those extra 3 points, would they be disqualified from the shows they were entered as Novice 1?

Is the point of training only for the stat boosts, and to level their training level up? When they reach level 5 of training, do they have to roll into the next division up (so like from novice to local) and then their training level starts over again at 1, or do they just stay at 5 forever since 5 is the highest training level?

When you go to train them, does it matter really where you train them? Like...can you train a novice horse at a local training center, or can you train a dressage horse at a western center? If you can but it's not generally recommended, what's the penalty for doing so?

Aaand finally...when do shows run? I know there's a timer on there when you go to enter that has "Show runs in" but when they get 15 entries do they automatically run? I've noticed they disappear from the list after they get 15 entries.

1) its probably just be a glitch but it's never happened to me before so I'm not too sure. Your horse won't be disqualified from shows if you up a level after entering them.

2) Training is for stat boosts and training level. Stat boosts are pretty self explanatory. The training level will not go down and has a limit of 5. Since there is always a luck factor to shows, it boosts your luck factor every time you level up.

3) there is no penalty, but you'll get less exp. you can train a horse in a higher arena, but you can't train it in a lower arena.

4) shows are run either after they get 15 entries or their time limit is up

-Yes, training levels have nothing to do with showing levels (novice, local, etc.), but a higher training level will give you an extra boost in shows.

-Yes, there is often a lag, and no, you shouldn't won't get disqualified

-They will stay level 5 forever, but will continue to get stat boosts

-You can train at different arenas, but you won't get as much experience

-I think its when the timer runs out or it gets 15 entries

Hope this helps! :)

The showing level that appears beside your horse's name is updated daily when Cron runs. However, the game recognizes when your horses has reached the next showing level even if Cron hasn't run yet. So your horse with 152 stats will still show up as N1 until Cron runs, but you will only be able to enter N2 shows with it after its over the limit of 149 stats.

Some people (myself included!) use this little delay as a showing advantage. For example, if I had a horse with 149 stats and hadn't yet treated it for the day, I would enter it into shows before treating, therefore ensuring that it will have the highest stats of any horse it might be competing against (with the exception of horses owned by players with the same strategy!). The same goes for stat boost points - entering them in shows before using the stat boost can put them 10+ stats ahead of any of their competition!

The purpose of training is essentially to increasing your "showing luck". A horse at level 4 training has a higher chance of winning a show against an otherwise completely identical horse that is only at training level 1. There are also stat boosts that you earn after 10 consecutive days of training, but those are unrelated to and have no effect on training level or showing level; they're literally just stat rewards for making it 10 more days!

Level five is the highest that training can go, but you should continue training even after you reach that point because you're still earning stat boosts every 10 days.

You can train any discipline horse in any discipline training arena, as long as that arena is at least the same showing level as your horse (or a higher level). You gain the same amount of player EXP points by training a novice level dressage horse in a novice dressage arena as you'd gain training that same horse in a international level dressage arena. The numbers will vary but that's because there's a "luck" component, not because it matters what level the arena is. If you trained the novice dressage horse any arena other than a dressage arena, you'll get no EXP points at all.

Shows end when their timer runs out or when they reach 15 entries. They don't run EXACTLY at that time though - they end at 15 minute intervals. So if a show got 15 entries at 6:07 pm, it wouldn't actually show results until 6:15pm.

Okay, so the little delay with the show level is a KNOWN thing and it is okay to well, exploit it? I just don't want to do anything against the rules.

And I did notice that once the show disappears off the list, the results appeared delayed a little.

Do horses make a little money and show points off ALL shows, or only if they win place or show? I have only gotten notices for them getting 1-3, but I know I'e entered them in their 10 shows a day normally.

Yep, totally known and totally fine!

Horses only earn money and points when they place first, second, or third. They only gain stats when they place first, second, or third in a show that has at least 5 entries. If your horses aren't at the upper level of their grade, it's often more worth it (both stat and money wise) to use them in riding schools until they are more competitive.

Yea, I had been reading the other posts done by people and saw that. At first I was showing everyone but then I started just riding school everyone, but then I read the topics and realized I should be showing them more Soooo hopefully I'm doing things more correctly now!
To be honest I was also trying to gain player points so I could get to level 6 and breed because I accidentally got a pregnant mare from the rescue and was worried if I wasn't the foal wouldn't make it ;-; (I made it to level 6 in time and the foal is a cute little [censored] who came out pretty awesome considering ♥)

I think now that I'm there though I need to just figure out showing, decide what is important to people in breeding, and then build up from there.
