Quick Training Questions

#90182 Posted on 2017-01-31 00:08:47

When training horses to gain the boost, you train 10 times to gain the boost. I got that.

This is the part I understand (I think)
Horses can start training at 3 years old (ages in 7 days).
You train the horse everyday for 10 days to get the stat boost.

Here are the questions:
If you train them daily, the max level is 5?
So that means you spend 50 days training right??

You want to train until they reach retirement and die. Training level do max out at 5, which means 15 stats per 10 boost points, but you can continue getting those 15 stats per 10 boost points until the horse dies after hitting max training level.

Actually, training level has nothing to do with the number of stats you get when you cash in your stat boost points. It has to do with the amount of "luck" you get in showing. Showing scores are based mainly on stats, but there is a random element thrown in, so the higher your training level, the more likely it will be that the random element will benefit you.

Number of stats from stat boost points depends on your horse's grade. My National grade horses get 19 stats when I cash in their stat boost points. I don't remember all the numbers, but Novices get the least number of stats, and International would get the most.

So Nittrous is right about the fact that you should continue to train your horse even after you hit training level 5, but wrong about training levels affecting your stat boost.

Ahh, most of my horses are maxed at regional level right now, the next Gen should put them into National, so 15 stats is the highest I go at the moment. XD I didn't notice them changing based on grade, so figured it was training level. Woops!

The best way I've found to show with success, is to simply show them at the top of their stat level for the grade, and handshow them when possible (I do all of mine hand showing now though).

My general guideline that I aim for is:
N1: 100s-149s, show at 140s+
N2: 150s-199s, show at 190s+
...
R1: 600s-699s, show at 670s+
R2: 700s-799s, show at 770s+
and so on.

I hand show so I can choose how many of each of my horses go into each show (I try to aim for having only 3 of my horses per show) and so that I make sure the entries all reach 5 entries total at least, so that when they run they actually give out stats. Sometimes, if there aren't many horses in a certain division being entered, I'll run shows with more than only 3 of my horses, until it reaches 5 entries total. c:

Also, I always make sure I have 5/5 tack on my horses, since it gives them the best chance of placing in shows and earning points.

Horses that don't fall into the showing stat range are simply entered into the riding school so that they can gain enough stats to make it into range. This method works relatively well, and I've had some horses end up being, lets just say, L1 and 348s before I show them (so top of their show stat range) and gain 10-15s in a single night. It definitely doesn't happen all the time, but it's really nice when it does.

Thank you so much :) I haven't been showing because I almost bankrupted myself last time :-\ It was very unnerving. I do however have a few in those top ranges. I need to update tack though :)
