Just a fun experiment:

I randomly decided to make two more Gypsy's from the EC. Got a some pretty little babes. :3

Feathered Gold
Gypsy Gold

My experiment is this:
For 20 weeks, I will only feed Feathered Gold Turnips + Red Apples, and Gypsy Gold Hay Cubes. Both are able to be shown and are in their first shows today. When they are 20 years old ages in 7 days, I shall convert Gypsy from Dressage (set on purpose!) to Driving and compare stat gains.

It's just for fun and also to get more lines for the Gypsy Vanner Gene Pool. :3

-Feather

P.S. - Anyone want to join me? It might result in a breeding with my private lines. ;) As I firmly am going private for the next few months, at least until my older horses are all gone, and perhaps for even longer.

At the moment, I have my akhal teke group doing the same thing, if you want to see what it might turn out like.

The black diamonds are specialty treats + showing at top of division/riding school otherwise, the white/clear diamonds are hay cubes + riding school only.

Overall, at 8 years old, the average of those on hay cubes is higher, with a few specialty treated horses sprinkled in. But in the beginning, hay cubes + riding school seem to be winning in stat gains. But I've also found that as they rise up through divisions, they have much less competition and shows, and have a higher chance of placing, allowing them to gain more stats. I'll be keeping them in these groups until they hit 18 or 19y, when I breed them. c:

I'll try this with the two adopts I've got today (though Nittrous's way) Though, what I've gathered so far is that it might be best to keep on haycubes past the three year mark, maybe till around ten, then transfer the, putting them in shows

Windcyle shall be my show pony

Windspell shall be my haycube/ridingschool pony

and although he has one day on them, I'll treat haycubes until ten years old, then go to showing.

I actually do this on all 3 of my accounts. I don't remember when I started this exactly, maybe around October, but then I had to lock up until January. So they aren't as far as I would like, but from what I have seen the ones with hay cubes gain much more than the ones that are set to their actual discipline.

I picked this up because I wasn't gaining back what I was loosing in trying to show. So riding schools it is until maybe R1.
