*New*Equine RP- Valley of the Forgotten SU |
#88238 Posted on 2017-01-19 15:28:56
Starting an equine roleplay, preferably fantasy equines (but can be normal horses), with a mix of character breeds/creatures. So you can be any equine, as long as you have a reference! Magic powers/immortality is acceptable as well as animal companions! No limit right now as far as how many may join. After there are enough equine players, non-equine characters may be accepted, but I haven't decided yet. I will make the RP thread as soon as there are 3 registered characters.
Roleplay Thread
Yes, there is a lot of information here. I really like detailed role playing. Please read the rules and about the land before applying.
Map of the Valley of the Forgotten
The Story:
The Valley of the Forgotten is a place where many creatures go when they have lost hope in who they are. They are No One. They come here to test themselves against creatures and fate, or maybe just to die in peace. But it is here where a group of equines band together and find what they all wanted: a home. But they must together survive in this dangerous land. Perhaps they can even make themselves known, to become Someone...
Rules:
-150+ words per post (unless it is a fight!)
-Keep posts pg13 and within equiverse rules
-you may include art if you want to
-Characters will stay together as a group, don't wander too far away!
-Magic, immortality, and animal companions are allowed
-only two characters per person at a time
-character relationships are allowed
-Violence is allowed only in fight posts
-Character deaths are allowed if you wish to change your character or stop roleplaying
-If you do not post for a while, your character may be killed off...
Occurrences:
To keep things interesting, if I feel like not enough is happening in the story, some event will happen to add excitement, depending on the area the group is located. Can be an animal attack, bad weather, or natural disaster, or discovered secrets. You will see a post like: “EVENT!! the herd got too close to some horned hippos! The hippos charge at the herd!” or “character has found a cave! Inside are magic pouches that can carry anything!”
Fights:
As there will most likely be disagreements between the characters, if a fight breaks out, you may post one line at a time, so each person reacts. You CANNOT use magic or companions in a fight. You CANNOT land a blow, only react to the other character and make your move. The other character decides if the blow lands or not. After 6 posts in a fight, the winner will be determined by me and random.org (character receives points for fight creativity, size, staying true to your character, etc). To start a fight, simply write your regular post, and at the end, say : “@character's name FIGHT?” The other character will then start the fight posts or back down in a regular post.
Fights can also happen with creatures in the area, if the herd gets attacked. With these, there are no fight posts. Herd leader will decide whether to fight or flee. If herd leader does not fight, a herd member still can. herd leader has 70% chance of winning. Other herd members have 60% chance of winning. Losing a fight just means the herd has to run away. Only consequence is how the herd reacts to the loss...
Start Up
The roleplay will start at the oasis in The Desert, with no set leader (gender does not matter for the herd leader!). Only the leader can lead the group around the valley.
If you are interested, reply with:
Character reference
character name
Gender
height
personality information
powers, companions, strengths, and/or weaknesses
a 200+ word post of how your character came to be in The Desert of the Valley of the Forgotten.
Accepted characters
Cobalt Fire
Tefached
Cleopatra
About Valley of the Forgotten:
Named as such because it is often the place where creatures who have nothing in the world end up. Many also come to this place to die in the Bog of Sorrow. While most inhabitants are normal animals, some fantasy creatures many be seen.
Warm Climate, tends to have a lot of rain on the east side of the river, while the west side is more dry. The occasional gryphon or dragon passes through the valley, as they often live in the surrounding mountains. There are only two ways to enter: by the North Falls or through a pass in the south that leads into The Desert.
Barren Salt Rocks:
The ground is reddish, and very stony. This area is full of salt rock, which that means very little plant life grows here. It is home to mountain lions, dire wolves, vultures, and the occasional armadillo.
Snake Grasslands:
Very few trees in this area. The grass is anywhere between 3-6 feet tall. The land slopes inwards, gently downhill toward the river.
This area is home to deer, elk, boar, and a variety of large snake species.
Mammoth Lake:
Because of its size, the lake has very little current, but the deep water is home to alligators, horned hippos, and many varieties of colorful fish.
Emerald Forest:
So named for the vivid green of the trees. The trees are very large, hundreds of feet high and trunks as wide as houses. This area is home to small-antlered deer, skunks, bobcats, and blue foxes.
The Desert
The only thing to be found here is sand, varieties of cactus fruit, and scorpions. There is only one oasis, in the very center of the Desert. The red cactus fruit is said to have strange powers...
Bog of Sorrow
This is a very dangerous area, but it does contain magic crystals for healing and protection. If you are not careful, you could get stuck! The only living things in this area are insects, such as mosquitoes,two-foot beetles, and flies. Many creatures come to this place to die, so there is a small chance of meeting some fantasy creatures.
The River:
The river that cuts the valley in two only has one spot to cross, up in the Barren Salt Rocks. The rest of the river is too deep and the current is too swift. You can try to cross elsewhere, but it is not recommended. The river enters the valley at the North Falls, and leaves by the South Falls.

My character: Cobalt Fire
“Coby”
Stallion
3 years old
15.3 hands
Wings can disappear at will
crystals on shoulder and inside hip glow
bit of blue fire magic
Personality: Quiet, dominant, a bit cold-hearted, competitive, but short-tempered. Get on his bad side and he might explode!
Afraid of water, loves the heat but hates the rain
Water... It surrounded Coby, filled his ears, eyes, and nose. In a panic he tried to reach the air above using his wings, but they only weighed him down. Deeper he sank, the crystals on his shoulder and flank glowing brightly in the darkness. He could barely see the moon far above, watching him in silence as he struggled to stay alive. Then he was falling, falling through the air. For a brief moment he could breathe! He was only able to get in one breath before he slammed into the water below. He started to sink again, feeling the weight of the falling water pushing him down into the depths, but that small bit or air gave him hope.
No, this is not where I end! Not in water! He was fire-born, and he would die by fire!
Once again he pushed to the surface, legs and lungs burning. The soft glow from the night sky slowly became brighter, and then he was free, free from his watery grave! Luckily in his struggle he had surfaced close to the shore. He collapsed in the soft sand, thoroughly exhausted. Slowly he lost consciousness...
He awoke to the heat of the sun and the ache of his sore muscles. It was almost noon. Slowly the events of the day before came back to him. He had gotten kicked from his herd by their new herd leader. The previous one he had burned in anger. He was a killer, a murderer, an outcast. In sorrow he had wandered south, and decided to swim in a river to relax. But the current was much swifter than he thought, and he got carried down river... Now he was at the edge of what looked to be a desert, sand as far as he could see. Slowly he got to his feet and trotted into the desert, too exhausted to fly.
After a couple hours he found a large oasis, surrounded by palm trees and green vegetation to eat. Happily he ate, drank, and rested in the shade.

Tefached
Male
Just shy of 17hh, a bit taller than the average appaloosa.
Tefached is a very hot-tempered dude who is quick to resort to violence to solve disagreements, even if he knows he'd lose. He is the earthly embodiment of the god of chaos and destruction, after all. He has a "brother" who he misses dearly.
He is a human/horse shapeshifter, however, around other horses (especially ones he doesn't know well) he will retain his equine form. Tefached has biological immortality (as a part of his punishment) as well as the relearned ability to start a fire with the tap of a hoof. This ability seems to be fueled by his temper. Sure, he can set a small campfire ablaze in a calm state, but he has been seen galloping through plains in a full rage with trails scorching behind him.
A long, long time ago, Tefached was known as Batillus in the upper realm. He was an ethereal being. A series of bad choices and mental decay caused his descent to the world. Batillus, as a god, was chaos and destruction, the rage and fire in our hearts. The world is a delicate balance, and you need both order and disorder for it to function. There is no such thing as utopia. Batillus began to lose his grip on his job, he has so much power and he abused it even if he didn't mean to cause disarray on the scale that he did. As much as it pained her, Materra, the keeper of earth, banished both Batillus and his brother Mortuus. They were the 2nd and 3rd sons to be banished. With a heavy heart, she stripped the two of their divinity. Their beautiful glowing bodies began to fade, colors morphed into dull coats, their beautiful wings and horns ripped away from them. She knew they didn't mean to cause the damage they did. She didn't hate them enough to banish them to the lower realm. They needed to see what they did. She sent them both down to live out their punishment on the earth they destroyed. Materra was worried that the two together would be too powerful, so she separated them.
Fastforward around 300-ish years, give or take. Tefached has been aimlessly wandering, he has made no real friends be it horse or human. He still hasn't found his brother, and hasnt quite forgotten about what happened. The subject is still extremely sensitive. One day, he was climbing up some barren and steep terrain. Going nowhere, just exploring the land. What more was there to really do? He noticed a river and excitedly loped towards it. He has been out and about all day, he hadn't really gotten a chance to stop and take a break. Tef began to quench his parched lips with the sweet, cool rushing waters. He even stepped in and splashed around a bit, the stream soothed his aching hooves. Tefached thought to himself, "rivers always go somewhere. Might as well follow it." and he did just that. he walked along the stony riverbank seeing where it leads. After what felt like hours, he found himself at the edge of a dropoff. He tipped his head over the edge and saw a vast land of many terrains. He stood in awe, it was something different, something that could be exciting to his monotonous life! Tef tried to carefully slide down the edge, being as surefooted as possible. OOPS! One little misstep and his world came crashing down. He tumbled down and down towards the pool at the bottom. SPLASH. A minute or two passed before the stud resurfaced with a gasp and collected himself enough to where he was able to swim ashore. His body was scraped up, he hit himself so hard on the rocks that there was a huge gash in his rump. He stood up in the soft sand and shook off like a dog. He winced, acknowledging the sting of the fresh wounds. "I wish Aki was here.. he'd patch me right up". He lowered his head and trudged onwards. Not before long, he noticed an oasis but... in seemed to be inhabited. Tefached walked slowly, the soft sand muffling his hoof steps. He was at full alert and being extremely cautious as he always is around new horses.

Character Name:
Cleopatra
Character reference- I do not currently have a reference, but Ghost said it was okay to have a detailed description. I will do my best to get a reference ASAP
Cleopatra is a slight little girl, standing only 13.3 hh. Her eyes are a piercing mixture of the blue of the night sky and the green of the grass beneath. Her coat is that of what the common folk might call dapple gray, though through her eyes she refers to it as "mottled brimstone". It has a beautiful sheen to it, glistening in the sunlight. Her mane and tail are almost silver in color; with only a few darker stone patches along the croup of her neck and dock of her tail. She need not wear a crown atop her head, for her skull is adorned with a bejewled shimmering crystal horn with a jewel at the base. The jewel's color is dependent upon her mood, though through careful training she has learned to regulate it-so it mostly stays a swirl of the black of heartache and the green of life. In extreme emotion, it will show red for anger or love, blue for serene happiness or total sadness, and green for your average emotion-hence it's standard color. Her hooves seem to shimmer, as she does like to mash berries or whatever together and in some fashion, with the help of her daemon, paint her toes...it depends on the berries she uses as a base what color they present themselves, though it appears that the dark blue of blueberries is her favorite of late.
Gender:
Mare
Height:
13.3 hands high
Personality:
Cleopatra is a misleading name, for she is by no means her father's daughter. While he was a warmonger, she is more of the gentle type to the naked eye...where as he was brash and announced his entrance everywhere, she sneaks in the side door. She has been this way since birth, always being the quiet type. Do not take this wrong; she is not to be forgotten. Her tongue is sharp, though she only speaks when she deems necessary. She is a commanding presence, and cannot often go unnoticed for long. While she does her best to stay in the shadows, she is often called out for her beauty and grace. Her daemon can often scare others away, but not often enough to make her quite happy. She is a devil in disguise; the snake in the grass. She is determined to make her own name for herself and not fall into her father's shadow. She is very respectful of nature, only taking what she can use. She takes good care of herself, enjoying the water and looking beautiful, in case she ever does fancy a night time serenade. She is always brooding, always looking to find the quickest way out of a situation before jumping head first into it...but there is a fault to all this. When one has walked her path of life, and known little to no true love, one becomes lonely for the warmth of another by her side at times...and in the past has been known to sleep around. She has been lucky in that she was never in heat when she has been in these moods of tempting stallions; a trait of hers that started at about a year and a half. This however, is what ultimately ended up bringing her to this foresaken place.
powers, companions, strengths, and/or weaknesses:
Her daemon, which is probably her biggest weakness, is an asp. She often will use her asp's venom in her poison spells. He mostly stays either wrapped around her left front leg or her neck, acting almost as a necklace. There's nothing special about the snake, other than she seems him as her only friend.
Her powers are still developing, as she did not used to use them when she was younger; she had no need. She has become skilled with poisons though, and is an encyclopedia of poisonous herbs and plants. With her horn, she can purify water for drinking, or turn the water foul.
Being small in stature, she is not much for a physical fight, so she generally uses mind over matter when it comes to any sort of combat.
As far as strength, she does not typically show emotion, or let anything in the environment affect her determination. She is her own horse, and that is how she believes she needs to stay.
History:
Her young life was not incredibly exciting. She was born the daughter of a warlord and a rather highly respected desert princess. The mother, of course, was always trying to teach her to be the proper lady, but when father would come around...he was angry that she had not been a colt, and would ignore her. Because of who her father was, the rest of the court did not treat her well. When she met her daemon, he was only a hatchling...and that was when the seeds of deciet began growing within her. She began spending more time with the healer than anyone else, but not to learn the art of healing...in fact to learn the opposite. Some years passed, and the little filly grew into a beautiful young mare. As was the custom of her family, she was to be sent off to another herd to become one of the harem, but that did not sit with her. It was an exchange her father had arranged, to gain advantage on the field of battle and form an alliance. She knew it would end with her death when her father betrayed the king. And so, instead of allowing such a thing to come to pass...She made her own plans.
Upon their wedding night, and with the information she had learned over her time with the healer, she poisoned her new stallion. And as he lay dying, he called for war upon her family, war upon her father. And all she could do was laugh. But she knew that she would be put to the stake for this, and so into the night she disappeared. She did not have anywhere in particular to head, and so into the night she ran...her beloved asp wrapped around her neck.
However far she roamed, she did not know. But the terrain changed over time, giving way to strange new cacti with strange new flowers. She had heard rumors, whispers really, among the wise men of the herd of what lie beyond the territory borders, where even her father would dare not go.
Had she accidentally chanced upon the land of the forgotten?
She knew before long she would need to find shelter and a drink. In her homeland, she had known that it was always to the east, but was that true of these lands?
