How to use coat applicator?

I just bought a coat applicator from the credit store and I can't figure out how to use it lol. I tried going to inventory and applying it to my horse but it said the color wasn't aloud on the breed. I haven't even picked a color yet, so I'm confused! Help!

Update. Ok so I got it to work on a black quarter horse. Why wouldn't it work on my chestnut one?

I too just purchased my first ever Coat Applicator and want to apply it to a black QH mare and can't get it to work.

Essentially, I have the same question. :) How do I get it to work? I don't see an option to select a coat when I try to apply it from my inventory as well. When trying to apply it, I get an error message saying "coat not allowed within the breed."

Help please?

Nvm, just got it to work. I put the horse in a division. Selected a different horse then went back to the original horse and got it to work. Maybe it just needed refreshing?
