Interest Check for Future QH Program

#79706 Posted on 2016-12-13 10:15:00

So I've been tossing around an idea in my head of attempting to offer custom foals from these horses.

My thought was to let potential buyers fill out a form like these:

Color Form:
Desired Dilutes (max two, excludes flaxen):
Desired Base Color : Black, Chestnut, Bay
--or Desired Color:
--Grey Okay Y/N :
Preferred Markings (max one):
Preferred Gender :

or
Marking Form:
Desired Markings (max two) :
Desired Base Color : Black, Chestnut, Bay
Preferred Dilute (max one, excludes flaxen) :
--or Preferred Color :
--Grey Okay Y/N :
Preferred Gender :

or
Conformation Form:
Desired Average Conformation (max of 65):
Lowest Acceptable Average Conformation:
Goods Required for (max four): Head, Neck, Withers, Back, Shoulders, Legs, Knees, Hooves
Preferred Base Color : Black, Chestnut, Bay
Preferred Dilute/Marking (max one):

Then I would breed a max of four mares with a stallion(s) that has/have the potential to produce the desired foal. The buyer would only pay IF a foal was born that met their color preferences (gender would only come into play if two or more foals were born that met the color requirements and they were of different genders). Foals which didn't meet their desired color goals would be mine to do with as I please (most would probably be gelded and sold as competition foals).

I think I would stop breeding stallions at 10 foals and mares at 6-8 foals; which is much higher than I normally would do but since there will be so much chance in this service I might be willing to go that high. I was thinking the service would be available once horses hit 500 stats (regardless of their age).

I was thinking of making this a service with a flat fee of 75-100k. If a foal met nearly all of their requirements, then I would be willing to work out a reduced price if the buyer was interested in the foal regardless.

Is there any interest in a service like this one? or should I just keep the horses and breed them for my own purposes.

awesome! glad y'all are interested. I think it would be a lot of fun and might help members fill in missing genetics or conformation in their lines.
