How do you figure out the pricings for your sale horses and stud fees?

I usually do 10k per 100 stats, but I feel like it might be too much.

I usually see 10k per 100 stats, but I never do that much (or even near it) because I feel like no one would pay that much for a stud fee or sale horse (lol).

Typically, I do like 2k+ for a stud horse and somewhere less than 10k for a sale but I've only ever sold bad horses with less-than stellar stats, sooo.

10k per 100 stats is the standard for sells, and studs typically 1/2 of that (since they are buying essentially 1/2 of your horse when they get a stud covering).

I do 10k per 100 stats + 5k per dilution gene (Cr, D Z, f, Ch) & + 5k per marking gene (O, T, Sb, Sp, Rb)

I limit most foundations to 100k, second gens to 150k etc.

My horses tend to sell okay at those prices, but I deal mostly in QHs which are the most popular breed.

A bay foundation even with 500 stats will probably only sell for 25-50k, but a Sable Cream of the same age with 400 stats might sell for 75-100k. But a lot depends on the buyer so the horse market can be difficult to maneuver.

Any horse with an uncommon discipline should have it's price listed at 1/2 of a similar horse with the most common discipline as you will probably have a hard time finding people interested in an uncommon discipline, which is sad but true.

I'll explain how I buy the best I can. There are a lot of factors that will contribute how much I'm willing to spend. I think that the amount someone is willing to spend depends on their breeding goals. You really have to consider who you are marketing your horse too when you sell them. I'm willing to spend less on a stud fee than on a horse I'm buying. After all, it is only half the horse, but I consider the same things when I buy them, almost. I'm pickier on stats for studs than I am on them for buying.

1. color. This is my main reason for buying, so if I see a horse with a unique color, I'm willing to bid quite a bit higher.

2. generations- I'm much more willing to buy horses without really common ancestors, or horses related to my own. Horses with a horse like Mesa in their ancestor ( a very common ancestor) will reduce the amount I'm will to buy.

3. Stat distribution and stats. I'm not a stat breeder, so the distribution of stats means more than the actual number for me. I can always raise the stats of a horse. If the horse is set in the discipline I am in, and is fed hay or sugar cubes, I'm not that likely to buy it,unless it has amazing genes. I have to factor in the 10k and 2 credits it will take to get those stats in the right place. Of course higher stats are better, but only if they are in the right areas.

4. dicapline in foundatjons. The wrong discipline will not at all deture me from buying the horse if it has not been converted before and is worth the amount plus the 10k I'll end up using to convert it. If anything, the discipline just makes me bid 10k less, which is much better in my mind than the wrong stats on the right discipline. I'm much more likely to buy a horse fed haycubes for the wrong discipline than for the right one. Wrong dicipline in 2nd generations is a too bad, so sad, this horse doesn't work for me.

5. conformation. I do try to keep conformation in mind when I buy a horse. The higher the conformation, the better.

If the horse doesn't have color or markings, I'm not that likely to buy it unless the stats and conformation are steller, so I can't really say how much I'd bid if it didnt' have color.

How much I'm willing to spend really depends on these factors. I don't really have a set base on how I bid, I just take everything, including the current market, into consideration.

My pricing system on studs is simple, and takes confo and stats both into account. If the confo is under 80, then I charge $5,000 per 100 stats. If the confo is over 80, I charge $10,000 per 100 stats.

For selling? Eh, depends on the horse a bit, but generally speaking I will be asking about 25k to 100K, with the value based on stats, color, and confo. 25K means the horse is boring...good overall, but nothing that makes it a real eye catcher. I raise the price in an increment of 25k for each of the other three things it has. The quality of the stats, of course, is something I judge by how many the horse has for its age; even foundies have no excuse not to make 300 stats by 10 years, and I feel that's on the low end of what they should have. Of course, foundies are the exception to this pricing system because they won't be as stellar, and I usually sell those for about 5k apiece.

I think the 10k per 100 stats rule is outdated. There are soooo many horses in the game now that there's no reason to spend that much. Anything that a really expensive horse has I can get myself through careful breeding and I'm willing to put in the time to do that, so I rarely buy or sell a horse for more than 10k. When I price a horse I take into account everything about it: confo, total stats, non-specialty stats, breed, color, pattern, discipline, how clean the lines are, if its training level and total stats make sense for its age (I'm not interested in buying horses that weren't trained daily or almost daily), how many foals it has, how many foals its parents have, and so on. A flat rate just based on stats makes no sense. There are so many factors that go into how successful a horse will be in breeding and showing. Why should I pay 50k for a horse that was born with 500 stats if it will never make back that much money in its lifetime because of its confo, stat distribution, pedigree, etc?

I think a more reasonable pricing range would be 1,500 for every 100 stats or adding a 0 to how many stats the horse has there's no reason to pay 10,000 for a 100 stat horse (theoretically) when you can pay 1000-200

What would you pay for third generation of custom chinco's whom are a little below average with stats. On old EV the first gen started at 60-200 stats. I am now training the first gen. So not there yet, but still curious.

I think 10K for each 100 stats is a fair price when buying horses. 5K for each 100 for studs. However, if the pedigree is a mess, I usually keep the price below 30K.

Regarding color and markings, I subtract 10K from the base price for each grey gene in some breeds. I add 5K for each dilution gene and in breeds markings are uncommon, I do 5K for each marking gene. For solid Vanners I add 10K.

If players don't want to spend that much on my horses, that's fine, I'll just keep them myself. I've put a lot of time, money and effort into my pixel-ponies and I'm not going to sell my work cheap.

As someone who only recently started this game, this thread makes me really appreciate those who have sold horses well below 10k per 100 stats. How everyone has that much money is amazing.
