[pistol] Welcoming my new horse!

#75159 Posted on 2016-11-09 17:45:10

*picture heavy*

I'd like to welcome the newest addition to my family, Ton!

Ton is a 9yo Paint/QH gelding, originally broken in English but rides both disciplines. He is probably the safest horse you could ride, considering a semi could fly past him at 60mph and he wouldn't flinch. I'm hoping to get into English lessons as I don't ride it, but I really want to do fun shows with him as well once I get back into 4H. Possibly barrels, games, parades, drill team... I feel like he's a great horse for any of those which is absolutely amazing, considering I have had Lucy for over 2 years and got to ride her maybe 3 months within that time.

So, anyway, yes, I'd like to welcome him. His original name was Ovation but nicknamed Ton, but I'm not a big fan of the original name. Sooooo I looked at him again and thought "Hey, that white looks like a mask" and BOOM his new name came to me. Phantom of the Opera. Since I'm already used to calling him Ton, I've kinda changed it to "Phanton" just so that it makes sense lol but yeah!

He's so gorgeous and I hope for many memories to come ♥ ♥

And yes, his left eye is heterochromic (meaning blue AND brown) and his right is solid blue c:

I'm still drooling over him. You sure I can't steal him away?

You got him!!!

I'm still thinking he's frame with a possible other pattern (probably splash). Would love to see if you decide to get him tested for the heck of it.

@Bopper: Thank you!!

@Paige: He is! Thank you!

@Adie: Yes, he does xD Thank you!

@Ruby: I know we're good friends, but we're not that good of friends, he's mine c;

@Vos: I did! And yeah! It's not really in my priorities at the moment but I'd like to too in the future.

@Silver: I agree!

Also an update:

I rode him last night around the property just so he gets the idea of where the fences are and won't run into them. If you don't know, they get 40 acres of woods and pasture to roam, complete with a bridge, pond, and creek, so the fences are kind of hidden in the woods. Anyway, I rode in my new english saddle for the first time and he did amazing, I'm just getting used to it.

And guess what guys.. HE'S A JUMPER!!! I know he did it for fun with 4H kids but I jumped over a small log yesterday and holy crap does he have the launch n tuck. Let's just say I was NOT prepared for it.

But yeah, I took him out without a problem. The only thing he fought me for was a puddle and going over the bridge, which I hadn't introduced to him yet so it was okay.

It is SO refreshing to go and ride on a horse that won't 1. take off, 2. fight you, 3. rub you into trees, or 4. spook at a leaf.

I think I picked the right guy for this c: I'm so happy! ♥ ♥ ♥

He is stunning!! Love his markings.

I read your update and got a laugh out of the not spooking at a leaf...I have a mare who has spooked at leaves, shadows, pavement going from grey to black, grasshoppers, etc. I love her to pieces, but she tests my patience for sure.
