What's More Important...?

In terms of comparing one horse to another, what characteristic is more important/holds more weight? Is it points, or is it the amount of wins/places the horse gets in shows?

Most people don't look at either, however with the new showing awards I'd go with number of wins/places because now if a horse is near one of those achievements the prospective buyer has potential for money in the near future. Points are meaningless but fun to collect and reflect the amount of effort a player has put into showing that horse.
