I don't know if it would be possible or even work for this game however an auction house may be something to think about?

This has been suggested before. I believe it's something that is looking at being implemented, but not sure.

It has been already suggested here, as well as discussed in other places. Abbey has also stated here that she likes the idea of a horse auction house, but hasn't gone any more in depth than that.
