Stats Question

#67834 Posted on 2016-09-17 12:21:02

I've been training my horses daily, and mainly entering shows. However, I do enter horses in the riding school every so often. My question is, which is better to gain stats, showing or the riding school? I also know treats give a boost and I do that daily as well. {Yes, I know which treats to give to boost the stats for my specialty}

Also, I know only horses 3 y/o and older can be trained, shown, etc. Is there anyway to increase stats on a 0-2 y/o other than treats?

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi, RebelRose! As far as Showing vs. Riding, right now it's better to put your horses in the Riding Schools as there's a slight glitch with Showing (which Abbey is working on). Not all of the Shows run so the Riding School is more stable for now. Once they're both available I'd say it's pretty even stat gains between them. As for 0-2 yo old horses, all we can do right now is treat them. There's been different ideas suggested about what to do with our foals but nothing's been decided. Abbey was super busy planning for her wedding so updates were put on hold for a bit. It sounds like you're doing everything right for your horses. I hope you're enjoying EV & if you have any other questions I'd be happy to help!

Shows are far better for stat gain (when they are working properly) for any horse that has foundation level non-specialty stats or lower. Once you get up to 80 or more non-specialty stats, riding schools are the better bet. Some people use the riding schools for horses that are in the bottom of the range of stats for their level. Riding schools are also great to use on the last day of a mare's pregnancy, as they are ineligible for entry in shows, or for after the horse turns 21.

The fastest way to make a foal gain stats is to put it in a specialty you do not want for the foal, and treat it every day with peppermints. (Hay cubes also work, but not as well as peppermints.) When the foal turns three, pay 10,000 EVD to change the specialty to the one you do want. That way you get the extra stat gain from the peppermints, but you ensure all the gains end up in the right traits, rather than randomly spread all over the board the way they would be if you didn't change the specialty.

Using these strategies, along with daily training, it is possible to raise a foundation horse to above 1000 stats.
