Where are all the horse photographers?! Let's see all the stunning photos you have taken! Also: What gear do you have/recommend for equine photography? I'm also curious to hear your tips for taking better horse photos. I don't have a camera yet but would love to have one.

Here's one pic taken by me, it's my friend's camera which I don't really master yet but I snap a few photos sometimes soo... :P

I'm trying to launch my own photography business :) I have a gallery space at Equidays (New Zealand's horsey festival) in October because I won a photography competition at last year's Equidays.

I use a Canon Rebel T3i camera that is ancient (I really need to buy a new body) and a 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM II lens that I bought a few months ago. Only a few of the photos below have been taken with it, the other lens I had was a crappy starter lens that did so well for how limited it was lol.

Here are some of my favourites I've taken:

That's such a cute photo, Amira! For a pose like that, you could also try snapping another one vertically. Also, the light (the sun) is on your right in that shot, but try to keep the light behind you and your subject in front of you c: the lighting in your image will be much better that way. The only exception to this is greys, who are magic and show up well even if you're shooting into the sun.

I have a Nikon D7100 and an 88-200mm f/2.8 lens at the moment. It's my set up for work - I work for someone, taking photographs hunter/jumper shows. I've taken like 6000 photos from this past Wednesday to Sunday Dx but here are some of my fave shots from work! Plus a few that I took a couple weeks ago for my friend in a spontaneous photo shoot haha.

Wow you guys are all great photographers!

@Valkyrie - Ah so that's why your new horse shots looked professional, it all makes sense.

@tolarie - did you enhance the color with photoshop? How do you make the color pop like that? (Even on your first and second photo with the dapple grey, it just looks so clear and the color is bright in a good way)

@Jezarae - I did it in Lightroom! The first photo I just upped the contrast a little bit, and maybe did something with the saturation/vibrance I think. Pretty sure. I did it a few months ago so I can't really recall lol. But comparing it to the original I think that's all I did. The settings that I shoot with are fairly accurate, but on cloudy days it can be a little washed out. The second photo I edited a few months ago as well, so I can't quite remember what I did... I think I fiddled with the saturation and the whites/highlights a little bit because I wanted to make the horse stand out more against the RV's and the sand. Here's the original for that one if you want to see.

I loveeeee photography. Especially doing my pons since that's the only horses I have to take pictures of! And, well, compared to you guys I'm pretty wimpy lol. I have a Nikon D3300 with a 18-55mm lens & a 55-200mm (which I use the most). In all honesty I don't know much about my camera and I've heard it's on the lower end quality-wise buttttt I don't have much money so this'll do.

These are a few of my favorite "odd" shots, but I'll put one and link the others since they're hugeeee. I also haven't uploaded in a while considering my internet sucks but maybe I'll try again today and edit this.

@Jezarae - haha yeah, I knew she'd be moving around once she arrived so I took my camera to catch some nice action shots of her.

Also - Lightroom is the bomb. I don't even have PS anymore, I only bother with Lightroom.
