Training multiple horses at once

#63058 Posted on 2016-08-24 13:47:00

So, anyone with a lot of horses knows training can take a while. I am wondering if something like checkboxes to train multiple horses at once, rather than one at a time from the drop-down, is feasible. Of course you could only select as many horses as the arena can take. Or, design some way to assign horses to arenas...? So that that way, there could just be a 'train all' button or something (maybe a premium feature?)(horses are assigned ahead of time and remain in whatever arena you chose for them unless/until you reassign them, such as when their grade changes).

If this is something that would be resource-heavy then perhaps definitely have it as a premium (credit) feature - of course now that I think about it, I suppose it would have to be for deluxe players only anyway, unless it could be made that basics could assign horses to arenas owned by others (though the feature itself could still be a credit feature). Maybe arena owners could be able to set aside a certain number of training spaces for 'outside' (owned by others) horses...? So as to not give up any more of their own training space as necessary, particularly if people were to be keeping horses in one place for any given period of time? Not really sure about that last bit as it just came to me as I was writing, so I haven't put much thought in to it.

Mostly I'm just looking for a way to make training a bit more efficient, no matter how few or many horses a player may have. That and treating are the two things I'm so close to just not bothering with anymore because they're so incredibly time consuming. :/ (I really want treats back to the way they used to be, lol, but that's a totally different topic)

I imagine it would work similar to showing, and that the page would take even longer to load when you clicked as it enters all those horses individually. Basically the current loading time x however many horses you enter.

Personally I don't think the training system is 'bad' especially for it's load time compared to showing. If anything it's more efficient than treating because you don't have to constantly swap to get the right boost. You could run through a whole herd with one (high enough) arena and you'd get the stat boost if you really wanted to.

Oh, I don't think it's bad - it just takes forever. :D But, I have, uh, ~450 horses, so I've sort of brought it upon myself, haha (I've sold a ton and am getting ready to sell a ton more, but even then I'll still have... a ton). I just feel like it could be a bit more efficient, even for those who aren't as dumb as me and have far fewer horses to deal with.

Though maybe if treating were to be put back the way it used to be I wouldn't care as much because that alone would be a huge reduction in time spent. I just think both of these things could be optimized to an extent.

I think Abbey is going to make treating the way it used to be one day, so we'll just have to be patient.

I recall reading that as well, so I hope it comes to be.

I have to say that today I went through and trained without regard to whether the horse was in the "correct" arena or not (that is, my dressage horses may or may not have been in western arenas and the like). The time I saved doing it that way was astounding - took about 20 minutes to train all of my horses as opposed to doing it "properly" (horses in the "right" arenas for discipline/grade), which tends to run about 90 minutes or so (yes really). Even though I've always known they didn't absolutely have to train in the 'right' arena, I would train them that way anyway because I have some OCD-ish tendencies which make it difficult for me to purposely do it 'wrong' ("this horse doesn't match this arena! ... blarghhhhhh"). lol But I did it anyway. Think I'll stick with it if my brain will let me.

Would still like to see batch training options if possible though.
