How to breed a solid Paint?

#63004 Posted on 2016-08-24 10:40:39

I love my brown dun solid paint but have no idea what to look for in the genetics to make my chances of breeding another one a lot better. Does anyone know?

rbrb ++ oo spsp

Unless you're okay with rabicano (rb) or roan (Rn on the KIT [++] gene).

You just need another solid (which will guarantee solid offspring), or you can chance it with horses that have heterozygous traits (e.g. T+ tobianos, Spsp splashes, etc).

Genetics like these don't 'skip' generations or just randomly pop up, so check out the genetic string for your own solid horse (which should look like what Olive stated above). Match that in a partner for it and you'll get your desired results.

Solid Paints seem to be fairly popular, so if you go looking for one to buy to breed to your current horse you shouldn't have much trouble. :)

I just love the look of the solid paints. Started a custom store line of solids. I've never been a big tobiano fan...always found myself drawn to the solids...especially with a bit of roan lol..

You're boy is beautiful! He'll make some purrrrrdy babies lol

Windspun, I agree on the Tobiano. I do like it TT on some breeds, but I really hate the way T+ looks on Paints. Sabino is so pretty, though, and roan.

I have my line of solid paints also, and have started a new foundation set also. I really only breed for solids.

I also breed for solids and have a decent size herd of solid paints now, which I occasionally offer at public stud.

I'm so happy that I'm not the only solid paint lover on the game! Brown Dun solids are to DIE for haha I managed to get one solid from him (not counting the solid I had to sell to the player I had promised the foal to xc ) but I had been crossing my figners for another solid stallion like the sire but while I didn't get that, I was still lucky enough to get a solid SILVER brown dun filly, if anyone's interested in future breedings with her let me know :)
