Mind giving me a hand at GIMP?

So, as some of you guys have maybe seen, I've made art, but a very beginner level. The most I've ever pushed myself to do is color a lineart. Even though I've colored it, I know there's so many more things I could have done to make it more "snazzy". But, that's where I fall short. I know what I could do to make it more advanced, but I don't have the skills to do it! What I'm asking is if someone , or a few people would be kind enough to help me with learning what I need to do.
