Show opinions?

#59865 Posted on 2016-08-08 23:31:39

I'm just looking to get some feedback on what people do and don't want out of the shows they enter. Currently I make shows with $20 fees and I was wondering if there was sufficient demand to justify making shows with, say, $50 fees instead?

I've just made a $50 set in most grades within Western, Show Jumping and Dressage to see how they go.

What do you mean "want out of the shows"? As in, do we look forward to the stats? Points? Player XP? I personally just want the stats for my horses.

I also don't think increasing the minimum show fees would be a good idea, unless the prize money increased as well. And actually, even then I don't know, because people who have horses that don't place well in shows would end up losing even more money then they most likely already do (I'm talking about myself), which would make the "people aren't entering my shows" situation worse, as they would resort to riding schools more than people already do now.

I'm not particularly fussed about how much showing costs. I'm more intrested in my horses gaining stats and me gaining EXP.

I usually enter shows that have 10 of the same name and an even amount of entries because, as my horses are all foundations, they are around the same grade so they will be able to enter the same shows.

Sometimes I enter them in the shows so that each show my horses are entering in has up to 5/6/7 entries and then repeat that with another group of horses just in a different group of shows. Thats why I like them to have 10 shows of the same name etc etc.

I don't pay attention to show fee at all. I look for ahows wit has close to 5 entries as possible and enter those (I show by hand).

if there aren't enough shows with 5+ entries, I use the riding school for the rest of that horse's 10 daily spots regardless of whether there are 60 shows with a $20 entry fee and only 1 entrant.

@Wey - shows with higher entry fees DO have higher prizes. they'd how the math of it works.

ahh gotcha.
a full show with a $20 entry fee gives out $625 in prize money and a full show with a $100 entry fee gives out $2000. just in case anyone was curious :p

With the horses I hand-show, I set the max show fee to 100 and enter horses into shows between 6 and 2 entries (entering max 3 horses in a show to get 5 entries) and don't pay attention to show fees. I do get really excited when there are higher priced shows with enough entries to earn stats, though.

@wey
In case I wasn't clear, I am looking to find out what shows people prefer, to guide me in the types of shows I make. I'm not suggesting game settings be changed.

Thanks for your feedback everyone. I think I'll try to make $50 shows every now and then, and just see how they go for a while, and if their income is comparable to what my $20 shows were getting.

I also enter each horse one at a time Into shows that will have 5 or more entries..but no more than 8 lol. I don't even look at the fee.

I haven't been making shows because I feel there's already too many, but when I did I set the price at 100.
