Ok serious question: are there any difficulties with keeping ducks? We can't decide if we want ducks of chickens (we've been campaigning the rest of the family for yeeeeears and just got the go-ahead).

Cuuuuute!!!

I do know ducklings require a higher protein content as opposed to baby chickens. I also think medicated chick starter is hazardous to their health so they require a non medicated starter feed.

My experience with ducks is they are, or I guess better way to say it, is they can be loader then chickens. I have a pair of female ducks I purchased last year from my local feed store. They are rather noise but I enjoy it and I live in the country so the noise isn't a concern. Also, they are both *very* good egg layers. :) Don't know if that is luck or not though.

CUTE DUCKIES, Laney! :)

Ducky, ducks i would say require definitely some type of water source for them to swim in because there feet will dry up and such. they are very MESSY so you need to make sure to always keep a clean area for them if they are babies. They aren't super high maintenance but i would say there food / water should be changed each day. my ducks are free range so we throw food for them to pick at and then they eat bugs and such...
