Bored between breedings

#57314 Posted on 2016-07-28 20:02:49

So my next breedings are scheduled for 2-3 weeks out, and after that, probably another month or so until my next ones. I LOVE looking forward to new foals...gets a little boring in between foal crops.

I'm thinking about getting a bunch of rescues to take up my time in the meantime - showing, treating, training, and caring now takes me about 15 minutes for my 45 horses, then I haunt the forums.

This is why I have 4, or 5 depending on how you look at it, different breeding programs that are staggered.

the last of my clydes are due soon, as are the first of my DWBs

then I have 14 yro QHs (first breeding in 5 weeks) and then 8 yro QHs (first breeding in 8 weeks)

and Tekes that are just about to turn 3 (first breeding, 16 weeks away ;n; so very long).

This means I have about 4-6 weeks between breedings/foalings rather than 19-20 weeks, which is a long time. lol Since I'm easily bored there might be another breed added in the next 4-6 weeks, who knows? Rescues could be a fun way to break the boredom for you though.

I acquire horses from a variety of sources, so my breeding schedule isn't very organized, but I usually end up breeding 2-3 foals every 6 weeks or so. Still a long time in between pretteh new ponies.

To the rescue center!

i used to do the same (acquiring horses from many different sources), but since i recently restarted all my lines i have nice easy breeding days lolz.

Personally I think 9 weeks might be my limit between breedings before i get too bored and add in new breeds/foals, just me though of course. :)

I'm almost too excited about all of my breeds having foals! I literally can't wait; especially since most of my lines are currently foundations so I'm looking forward to seeing how the first foals turn out!
