For many years, herds of wild horses roamed freely among the great plains of Earth, from the rolling hills to the ocean side. Each one was unique in its own way, whether it be by traditions and customs or by way of living. The most unique herd of all, however, was the Kingdom of Feor. It was a large herd, proud and strong. Proud and strong, that is, until one particularly horrific battle with a neighboring herd. Though the kingdom won, more than half of the herd had died, reducing its size to nothing. Their king and queen were dead, and there were no heirs. Chaos ensued.

A white stallion showed up on the very day. He was a mysterious being, almost like a phantom. Many viewed him as a sign of regrowth, and, in their mindset, he was to be king. Those who disagreed with this action left the herd. The stallion, Solembum, took over.

The strange new king we kind at first. He helped to rebuild the herd and calm everyone down. Things were peaceful again. Everybody loved him and believed that nothing bad would happen under his rule. Gradually, he began to implement new rules. His biggest addition to the herd was the Ceremony of Mates.

The Ceremony of Mates is an odd thing. Solembum introduced a new rank- Match-Maker- which he gave to his favorite mare. Every horse in the herd gathered around, mares on one side, stallions on the other, and the mare, Venus, called out names of horses who would be mates for the upcoming month. Many were matched up with their crushes, and it was a sort of push to begin their relationship. Others were paired up randomly and had no feeling of attraction toward their mate. Still, this ceremony got results, and the herd was rapidly growing again. While some may not like this ceremony, it has been tradition for years and is simply part of the herd customs.

Recently, news of fires starting in distant lands but spreading rapidly have reached the herd. They are not yet touched by fire, and there is no sign of smoke on the horizon, but many fear for the future. As if that isn't bad enough, enemy herds have slowly been pushed their way due to the fires, and it is more dangerous than ever to live near the forest.


Herd Rules:

- The King's word is law. He has authority over all, and any who disrespect him will be punished.
- Always respect a rank higher than yourself.
- Fighting with another herd mate could result in exile.
- Each mare and stallion must produce one foal every two years.
- Pairings made by the Match-Maker are final and may only be changed by the Match-Maker. No one is exempt from the ceremony unless they are too old to have foals.

My Rules:
- Literacy is not optional. You must use proper grammar and spelling to the best of your ability. I understand typos happen and we all make mistake. If you consistently make mistakes, you will be warned. There is also a minimum of one paragraph per character per post, meaning at least five sentences each.
- Respect is also not optional. Characters in the roleplay may argue to their hearts' content, but arguing among fellow roleplayers will not be tolerated.
- In order for this roleplay to be successful I need everyone to be active. That means posting at least once a day. Suddenly leaving the roleplay without an excuse will mean you are kicked out.
- I want to see creative characters here; no Mary Sues or Gary Stues. Every character has flaws.
- For every stallion you make, you must make two or more mares. There is a maximum character limit of 6, and a minimum of 3 following the above guidelines. Basically we need more mares than stallions. Later on, more stallions will be added to even out the genders.
- No pictures. Few people know how to properly cite them (simply putting a link is not citing) so I'd rather just not allow them.
- One high rank per person.
- More rules may be added at any given time.
- By signing up, you hereby agree to every rule set above. Should any of these rules be violated I, Trumpet, have the right to remove you from this roleplay.

Ranks:

King: Dominant stallion in the herd. He has absolute power and authority. His word is law. [1-- if you wish to play this part indicate so in the 'Desired Rank' portion of your sign up. I will choose who gets the part before the roleplay begins.]

Queen: The mate of the king. She has the most power next to him. [Chosen in roleplay]

Princes/Princesses: Children of the King and Queen. The eldest colt is next in line to be king. [None yet]

Duke: The Second in Command of the kingdom. He is in charge of breaking up arguments and making sure no one in the herd is ill. Any problems should be reported to the king. [1-- if you wish to play this part indicate so in the 'Desired Rank' portion of your sign up. I will choose who gets the part before the roleplay begins.]

Duchess: The Dukes mate. She has the same job as him. [Chosen in roleplay]

Match-Maker: The horse in the herd whose sole job is to match up compatible members of the herd to become mates for the next month. [1- taken]

Healer: Horses who are skilled in the ways of botany. They can cure illnesses and diseases, but physical injuries (broken bones and such) are out of their knowledge range. [2- either gender]

Lead Warrior: A strategic stallion who is not necessarily the strongest but is very well-skilled in battle and knows how to manipulate his surroundings. Also leads patrols around the herd territory to watch for any predators or rivals. [1- stallion]

Warriors: Any other stallion in the herd without a significant rank. 2 years or older. [Unlimited]

Mares: Exactly as the name says; any other mare in the herd without a significant rank. 2 years or older. [Unlimited]

Foals: Any horse who is younger than 2 years. [None to start]

Description:
Seyr is a light grey colored mare with darker patches here and there, and much paler, almost white dapples all over her pelt. She has a mane and tail only a few shades darker than her dark patches, with a "bald" face (completely white face, that extends to her ears, causing her forelock to be paler than the rest of her mane). She, like her twin, have pale ice blue eyes that usually give off a grey like look. She is the smaller of the two twins, not by much, but noticeably so. She has an arched neck and petite body, and a raised tail, standing out against the "stock" build of most of the herd horses. Being shorter than her sister as well, she stands at only 14.1.
History:
She and her twin sister, Mian, were very small and weak when born, due to being twins without much room to grow in the womb. But they grew strong like most foals. Mian more so than Seyr, but neither of them are weak in any way now. Because of Mian being the bigger of the two, she often mistreated Seyr, making Seyr grow into a very quiet mare. Their parent's were both very oblivious to this, but Mian and Seyr were still best friends through everything.
Their mother passed away when they were roughly two years old, when she was giving birth to their half-sibling who had not been named, nor had their gender been identified due to under development. Their father still is around, but doesn't really care for the two mares, though they don't acknowledge it. When he does give them any attention, it is always negative, blaming them for their mother's death.

Kia is a flaxen liver chestnut mare, dark brown colored with a sleek, shiny like look, with a white patch shape somewhat like a butterfly on her chest, and another long stripe like white marking that starts at her flank and leads up to her hip. She has a somewhat short mane, the color of dry grass or wheat, and a matching tail that is also short for a wild horse. She has ears that curve inward, and long thin legs that compliment her athletic, but not really considered thin body. She stands at 15.3hh.
History:
Nothing is really out of the ordinary for Kia when it comes to her history. She grew up with a regular mare as her mother, and a warrior as her father. Both have passed away (both of them from old age, passing naturally), though he loved them both, they never were really a "family", though Kia assumed that was normal for the herd because her mother was often chosen before her father could get to her, and so she has no living full blood siblings.

Daro is a smokey black colored stallion, though dark enough to often come off pure black. The only white penetrating his dark coat is a white broken blaze on his face, that is only noticeable if you look at him head on. He looks nothing like that of his half-sister, standing taller than her, at 16hh, and is stockier than her, like their father, almost draft like but not quite. He has a thick, long mane and tail, that have somewhat of a wave to them, but are short enough to no be much trouble.
History:
Daro has nothing of an epic, or special history. Born to a mare, and a warrior, he is essentially a repeat of his sisterl. He had a normal, fine upbringing of mother and sometimes father teaching and showing him new things, all the essentials of being a stallion. (If he gets a King or Duke I will slightly modify this).

One day when Ava was still a filly, Ava's father drowned in a pool while taking a drink. Ava was young, and these deaths didn't affect her innocence. Description: Valdur is seal brown in color, with lighter patches resembling pangare on his belly, muzzle, neck, and eye. These lighter points hold even lighter dappling, except those on his face. The stallion has eyes the color of honey with darker brown flecks and outer rim. His rear legs boast half stockings while the two front legs carry high stockings, leaving all four of his hooves a light tan. Both of the stocking on his front legs snake up to his withers and follow the crest of his neck, stopping before the poll. An irregular blaze makes its way down his face, avoiding his eyes, slipping off to the left side of his muzzle and ending at his lower lip. His mane and tail have a dark brown base, being white where his body is the same.
He is a rather large horse standing at and even 17hh. His shoulders and chest are large and muscular leading to a long back. His head is rather long and narrow and sits upon a medium sized neck. Valdur's legs are long and clean of any feathering. (Resembles a Hanoverian)
History: Valdur was the first son born to the prior lead warrior, he was his second foal and obviously the most prized. The dark colt was around his father whenever the black stag had the chance, shaping and molding his son into a warrior without him knowing. He grew up with very few friends since he was too serious and reserved for the other foals.

Her mane and tail have a black base but her tail is mostly white due to the extensive blanket. Noor's eyes are the color of dark chocolate flecked with gold.
Noor is on the larger side standing at 16.1hh she has a long sloping shoulders that lead into a fairly long back. Her head is finely chiseled, being narrow at the muzzle with a broad forehead, and sits upon a long, crested neck. (Resembles a Trakehner)
History: As with most fillies, Noor was raised almost solely by her mother. They spent most days together and her mother taught her to never rely on anyone but herself. She would say over and over that stallions only wanted what she could give them and then they would leave. It made sense to the young filly since her father was hardly ever around and the conversations between her parents was often limited and direct, there was no emotion behind their words, only duty.
