Riding

I feel like you should be able to get more or better things while riding. I used to look forward to riding and now I just do it to pass the time.

I usually only get +2 ride turns and sometimes an apple or carrot

I agree, a more variety in things that happen/ you could get would be nice. Though I think she nave have done this because you can ride every thirty minutes.

I agree :) I think it would also be nice to have a list of the horses you last rode, like in the old version, so you know who you haven't ridden yet :)

Paige, horses you have already ridden will not be available in the drop down menu until CRON runs and it is the next day =)

I have plans to add more :) it's just thinking up the text haha.

I also think it would be nice if the "scenery" changed a bit too, instead of just staring at the same picture for the whole ride. ;)

I don't mind the scenery changing but I do miss my horses getting stats from the riding.

I like the idea of scenery changing. There could be a small chance each turn of the ride location changing, and you could just use the existing art. It could really be quite interesting.

For example you could have several turns in the forest with normal random forest events, then you might get a turn where it randomly changes to, say, the beach, with a message like "You ride through an opening in the trees and find yourself on a beautiful beach." Then you might spend some more turns here, before it randomly selects another location, and gives another transition message.

That would sort of defeat the point of choosing a location in the first place.. or would you prefer to just be able to select a horse and then the scenery changes at random?

Problem with this is load times of images, particularly for mobile players - generally once you've loaded 1 image it's easy to reload it as the device has it cached, but if the scenery keeps changing it's potentially 5 large PNGs to load just for one ride.

Interesting concept, could be something I toy with in the future :)

It could probably work either way. You could perhaps choose a starting location, and then there'd be chances of location changing later, or you could just start riding, and the first location would be random as well.

I think if the chance of the location changing was sufficiently small, then the impact on mobile users would be minimal, as the ride location would be unlikely to change more than once or twice during an entire ride.

It's extra work for a change that won't matter to many players, anyway. Since we have the option to ride every 30 minutes, and we have 5 locations, if a member gets bored with one location, choose another for the next ride. It seems to me that many players flip quickly through the ride turns with the sole intent of seeing what they pick up on rides, not for the scenery. ;) So this idea with changing up the scenery, although interesting, in my opinion is getting a bit too nit-picky.

That said, since there would likely have to be limited scenery changes (especially to accommodate the mobile users who play EV), that means our riding selection options actually decrease, and more members may not like this change.
