Having one of those moments...

#53300 Posted on 2016-07-16 17:22:10

...where I can't stop procrastinating while treating my herds. My brain keeps telling me that it takes maybe 20 minutes tops to go through and figure out what each horse's lesser of two specialty stats are and treat accordingly. My fingers, on the other hand, are having a grand ol' time putzing around, hoping someone says something on the forums, reading various Reddit threads, and admiring my Excel spreadsheet of color coded awesomeness (it's the little things guys). Plus I can't stop staring at the aquarium of fishies.

LOL 30 mins earlier I was super excited to have some free time to treat/enter shows. \o/

This happens to me a lot, some days I end up having to lock my horses because I waste so much time on other things, on and off site, that I don't finish caring for my horses.

One thing I do to streamline the process is, every couple of weeks I go through my herd, and figure out which treat I need for each horse. I put the first initial of that treat as the first letter of the horse's name. When you go to give the horses their treats, the game sorts the horses alphabetically (within divisions) so all your carrot horses will be together, and all your red apple horses will be together, etc. A couple weeks later, I redo it all, and usually I end up swapping treats. That way, overall, the horses stay balanced, but the day-to-day treating time gets slashed to a bare minimum. The only thing is you have to pay attention to when that first initial changes, because you can get so used to clicking quickly, and it's easy to accidentally give the wrong treat to a horse or two.

I have over 300 horses, and I can buzz through treating in a matter of a few minutes.

@Aglet : Glad to know I'm not alone! I feel like I'm in lala land today, lol.

@Confessor: That is a great system/idea! I'm going to go through and implement that tomorrow and take it for a spin. Thank you for sharing. :)
