Tom the Horse Trader?

I believe that was his name on the old EV and, for the life of me, I can't remember if there was a specific reason for him being pulled off the game, but is there any reason why he can't or won't be returned to the game?

I feel like it'd be an extra outlet for all those spare horses running around the game who are unwanted (the horses in the rescue) and won't find homes before they age out. That and who couldn't deal with some spare moolah?

Maybe put some regulations on him? IE if you pull a horse out of the rescue and that same day, try to sell it, it won't allow you to, can't sell foals (I believe that was a regulation before)....

Just a suggestion.

for those of us that are newer, could you explain what shifty Jim did?

Shifty Jim used to give horses an estimated value.
My understanding was an error occurred and most didn't agree with the set values as everyone breeds for different things...can't say one way or another if he will return in future or not.

I'm going to be honest, I don't support.

1. Some accidentally buy the wrong horse out of the RC, and now they can't get rid of it.

2. You get the horse for someone else but then you can't transfer it right away.

3. Sometimes you need to get rid of horses and foals or elders are the first to go, why would it be bad to sell foals?

Just some ideas.. And my opinion- don't get all feisty lol.

It would be cool if their was a disclaimer that said something like "Value by stats" or "Value by Conformation" Like different categories that you could chose to value a horse by?

I personally loved shifty Jim and miss him :D

Wouldn't it be seperate from the RC though? And what would it have to do with transferring.....? And it also doesn't mean you wouldn't be able to sell them, correct???

I pretty sure at the beginning of having Shift Jim he also would take horses for a fee and, in essence, it would permanently delete them.

I don't remember if that was a feature that ended up being removed or not, because it upset a lot of people when a horse that was in their horse's pedigree got deleted and they ended up with broken lines.

Yes.. originally he DID "buy" horses (I think for slightly less than he valued them and it DID delete them from the game as Kate said.

For a small while, he only did the values then was completely removed and IIRC, that led us to the rescue center. Giving people a way to "delete" horses, while giving others a small window to rescue breds or lineage before the lines were broken or just pick up something that had "flaws" (broken lines, uneven lines, inbreeding).. Like if you don't care about DC, you could have picked up something cool that had good colors/stats.

It'd be nice if there was another outlet for unwanted/poor quality EC horses besides rescue. To prevent pedigree breakage maybe only horses that are unbred could be "sold" to shifty jim?

I like that idea, Ruki. Especially because a lot of the horses that would likely go to him anyway are foundations people created and then didn't want because they didn't fit into their breeding program. Most end up, straight out of the EC, in the rescue center.

I would like there is be some way to get rid of unwanted horses that doesn't rely on trying to kill them off via lack of care or dumping them into the RC.

So, something similar to Shifty Jim, but have it set up that the only horses that are deleted are those without foals. The others are..I don't know. Shipped off to be pasture ornaments or something.
