Guinea pigs :D

So, Texan messaged me after seeing on my page I love guinea pigs so I thought HEY, why not make a topic where we can show off our little porky friends! As a family we had two pigs when we were younger, Ginger and Patch. Ginger was an Abyssinian and Patch a Crested. I don't have any digital pics of them though :( I am a qualified RHA with the British Assoc. of Rodentologists specialised in guineas and am currently studying as a Rodentologist too :D I am obsessed with the little pudgy pigs lol ♥

This is Simon (top) and Joe (bottom)

Simon is very *cough* photogenic lol. He and Joe I adopted from work, and they had their squabbles but couldn't live without each other! Simon was blind, micropthalmic in one eye and his other was too large. He sadly passed away after a reaction to anaesthetic. Joe was the cheekiest most tame pig I have ever met! He would beg like a puppy for food by standing on his back legs, came when called and loved to sleep on your knee. TV was his favourite thing, and he would run and sit on his shelf (he and Simmy were free range and so basically did and went wherever they wanted XD) and stare at it whenever Coronation Street came on XD He passed on after his 2nd bout of bloat in March, 7 months after Sim :( Mummy ♥'s her boys.

This be our sweet little geriatric Cuddles, who I adopted from work (she was too old and sick to go in our adoption centre, it would be too stressful for her)

She is a pig with attitude lol. Don't let her age fool you, she has been there, done that and got the imaginary t-shirt XD She was very underweight and had been squeezed - her eyes no longer sit right in her sockets, and her lungs are scarred from where they stretched so she can't breathe so well. Her toe was broken and her teeth chipped. She also had bumblefoot. Poor old girl, she is treated like queen of the guinea pigs now XD She is very cuddly and affectionate, and likes the dark green edge of cucumber! her nickname is Cuddles McBean, because she is our little baked-bean ♥

And finally this is Medusa (top) and Valentina (bottom)! I run a small guinea sanctuary and these are my first official sanctuary pigs ^-^ They haven't been mistreated, but their neighbour-bunny didn't like sharing his exercise with them lol!

'Tina and 'Dusa are proper chunky-munkeys, so sweet. They are friendly in their cage but shy when out of it, so that is what we're starting to work on. 'Tina is a bit older and acts more mature than 'Dusa XD

awwww! I used to have two, Choco and Chip ♥ They died of old age a few years ago. Don't have any pics at hand though :/
Best rodents I have ever owned, and that's coming from someone who has had quite a variety xD

I giggled at free-range Guinea Pigs! They're adorable. :)Can't believe someone thought it was ok to squeeze cuddles...grrrr...

omg. I love guinea pigs, this is the best thread ever. They're so cute n_n

Just too adorable ^-^ If all else fails, pick up a guinea pig and give it a cuddle. Fixes all ills lol :D

Ohmergerd! This shall be my longest post ever. You've been warned.

Looking back over old pictures I forgot how many piggies I had at one time LOL.

Easiest to start at the beginning. Well WAY back I had S'mores who died on her 5th bday :( I got her when I was ten or so and before digital cameras/phones were popular. I have no pictures of her available beside like two hard copies that are at my parents. Still the cutest sweetest pig who LOVED EVERYBODY.

Then came Lara as in Lara Croft. She used to like to sit up high and run laps around her cage. Then she hit puberty, got tubby, and never looked back. She died on around her 4th bday. Nyx is the grey agouti/white piggy. Shortly after her having babies she had to be put down due to malocclusion. Since she was so young and faded so quick, the vet decided to put her out of pain since it would almost certainly be a re-occuring issue.

I got Pickles about a year or so after Lara. She's 5+ years old and still going strong. She is the momma to everybody below! I wish I could keep her with me but I'm stuck with her sons (though I visit several times a month!).



CuCu (Cucumber) and Zuki (Zucchini) are Pickles' daughters that my sister kept as pets. CuCu turned out to be a silky pig and is still with us around 4 years of age. Zuki has since passed away :(

Here is CuCu and Poe (the daddy of PJ & Pico). They looked cute and pathetic together lol.


PJ and Pico are brothers who I sadly do not have pictures of as babies because my wonderful phone died. I promise though, they were super cute. They were born about a year after the girls above, so they're around 3 years old now. I adopted "Skunk", as my sister calls him, November of 2015. He had been living in a backyard and was wild. I call him Twitchy Fluffbottom. He's actually grown to be quite a talkative boy, especially when he believes he should be fed. Just don't move quickly. Or look at him. Or talk to him. LOL he's getting better by the day though! He's my youngest at maybe a year old? PJ is actually larger by far than anybody else, even though he doesn't look it >.> Their sister is named "Baby" I believe and is loved on by a family friend. She looks JUST like her momma.
