In need for tutorials

I have been working on a really awesome digital art and I think the horse is almost finished. BUT, backgrounds and I aren't really good friends. I really want this background to be perfect, because I am so proud of the piece so far.

The biggest struggle I always have is sand. I can barely find any good sand tutorials and that really frustrates me. Do you have any tutorials for drawing sand (from an outside arena)? Or can someone tell me how they do it?

It would really mean a lot to me!
