Instruments?

#47146 Posted on 2016-06-14 18:38:52

Does anyone else here play a musical instrument? I play clarinet, and I just started renting a tenor sax. I took lessons for guitar and piano in the past but stopped, I still play the two for fun though. What instruments do you guys play?

I'm self-taught at piano. I used to take piano lessons, but I didn't enjoy learning it, so I just kinda messed with it, lol.

I've been playing the flute since 6th grade. :D I really love playing it. ♥ I'd love to learn the sax, too.

I play experienced clarinet music :)
I'm in a nice classical/jazz band and we go around to competitions. Mostly coming 1st or 2nd. I'm the head clarinet in the band. Pretty much in charge of all the other clarinetists and making sure all the clarinets are in order and working. If not I fix them c:
Clarinet is fun :D

Edit: sorry there, I did do a bit of bragging there without realizing it :c

I play the piano, though mainly by ear, I did have lessons eons ago and enjoyed them, but when my dad lost his job I dropped them and just never started taking them again. When we moved I had to leave my piano (which was out of tune anyways) and for years had nothing to practice on until a family friend gave me a keyboard. Now I just mess around when I feel in the mood. I picked up Beauty and the Beast and the Star Wars theme by ear and there are some songs I still remember from my lesson days so I play those when I get the time :D

@syrien
Sax is super fun! Super easy too! You should try it one day, I got my tenor earlier today and I played for 2 hours when I got home. I literally spent all my free time today on the tenor, it was great.

@snoglobe
I'm the head clarinetist in my schools band, but I don't do any out of school bands unfortunately. I'd love to get involved with one but I'm not sure if it'll be my thing, ecspecially when school comes back since I'll be doing regular band and iea. Not to mention the fact that I'm at the barn practically everyday because.. Well I own a pony c'x add on the fact that I'm doing all advanced classes it wouldn't go well. Tack on the winter show series I plan to do with lash and it really wouldn't work out.

@Bopper
I cannot play the flute for the life of me I swear! It was my first choice but I could to make a sound. Flutes hate me!

@rainy
Same, I used to take lessons but I hated not being able to play what I wanted. So I stopped and now I just learn things by ear. My current project is teenagers by MCR, it isn't too difficult but I haven't made it a priority to sit down and finish it.

I'm a flute player through and through ♥ Been playing since I was in fourth grade and I'm going into my second year of college.... 3 Year all-state band member as well ;D
I'm incredibly passionate about it, but I don't like practicing enough to actually go to school for it and try to make a career out of it xD

i played trombone for a couple of years but never really enjoyed it. i was also classically trained on piano. i had plans of playing piano for a living and was just started to do serious competitions when i was diagnosed with carpal tunnel (at the age of 18) and was told that if i continued to play as much as i was that i'd damage my wrists further, so i had to stop. many years later, i'm starting to learn Irish tin whistle since it doesn't mess with my wrists

Violin, this will be my 9th year playing. I tried piano for a bit, but never really got the hang of bass clef.

I haven't played in a while, but I grew up playing the flute and the violin. Started the flute at around 5th grade and then started the violin shortly after. I'd say it's been a good 6 months since I've picked up either instrument but still love them dearly. I have my eye on an electric violin when I have some extra $$$ sitting around.
