^^^ Kaioti, I had the same reaction.

In addition to the whole "largest mass shooting" lie, the phrase "worst terrorist attack since 9/11" has also been thrown around... like the Boston marathon bombing didn't happen? Fewer people were killed, but more were wounded... I believe what they meant was "the deadliest terrorist attack since 9/11", but saying that it was the "worst" just rubs me the wrong way when so many people's lives were affected by the bombing in 2013.

When I posted this it was not my intent to involve politics. I only wished to support those effected. Our EV community is normally a loving and supportive one and comes together when incidents like this occur - which is sadly far too often. I never meant to upset or offend anyone.

Oh, Valzed! I don't think anyone feels that you rubbed them the wrong way. I don't think you were being deliberate when you phrased things the way you did. I mean that is what has been repeated over and over, and you repeated it too.

Other posts here were a little irksome and pandering. ❤ Love you guys!

But mostly (99.9%) it is the garbage 24hr news cycle.

@Luvpalominos...oh they know what they say. It is their entire job after all. It's on purpose.

Valzed, nothing you have said has been offensive at all. Personally, I was referring to certain politicians who are twisting words to make the situation fit their agenda.

As someone who majors in English I am taught to be careful with phrasing and word-choice. I imagine if the politicians aren't already thinking about that kind of stuff, then they have a team to edit it for them... of course that's if they respect other people's opinions enough to actually take their advice.

Also, that video that the choirs made was finally posted! I'm unsure how to embed the video so you guys can watch it without having to go to another link, but here's a link of it.

I heard about this not too long after it happened. 50 people killed and 53 people injured. I saw a picture on IG of someone texting their mother before they were shot and killed. This whole thing is just terrible. Not to mention that other shootings happened within 48 hours of each other. The Christina Grimme thing, The Pulse and I'm pretty sure there was a hospital that was shot up. And then people are saying the shooter was Muslim, which is not correct. My condolences to the families of the ones who were killed by the shooter.

The US's gun laws are seriously messed up. There was a video of a thirteen year old trying to buy an inappropriate magazine, cigarettes, lottery tickets and a rifle. Guess which he was able to buy? The rifle. He went into a gun convention, bought a gun with cash and walked right out. He was told he couldn't buy the magazine, cigarettes or lottery ticket. Guns are fine for kids, but lottery tickets? NO WE MUST PROTECT THE CHILDREN! It's time for the US to get its act together.

I live about 30 minutes away from Orlando. I grew up in this community. Surrounded by my LGBTQ friends. My friends are regulars at this club, gay, and straight. I was in tears all morning until I heard from them. I'm a little late to this convo, but let's just say it's been a crazy week...

I -almost- bowed out of going to Pride last weekend, but in the end decided to go. Stupid to be scared off by hateful people, though this shooting DID reveal just how much hatred (not to mention apathy) is really out there, and it's disturbing.

But we went and had fun and nearly melted in to the pavement because it was 100 degrees. I hope no one else talked themselves out of going to a Pride event out of fear, though it's certainly understandable.

(I too am late to this discussion as I have largely been off the forums, with the exception of a cruise through the bug board. Haven't felt terribly talkative lately.)
