Been dying to share this progress, but I can't show toooo much because it's supposed to be a gift for someone, so this is the most I can show without revealing what it is and who it's for. :D I still need a lot of fixing on the shading but, My shading now, compareed to when I came back to EV? Huge difference I think.

wow this is so cool so far! :D
i love seeing a horse 'come to life'

can't wait to see more (:
also you can always greyscale the image if you
want to show more progress shots without giving away the character (;
unless it has body features that are super unique XD

Thank you :D Been working on this for awhile. Taking a lot longer than I'd hoped it would :( but Im a slow poke and not exactly a veteran at shading, so Ive admittedly had a lot of trial and error with this one

That's a good tip! I most likely will, but still, there's only show much I can show even doing that, because the theme is very...identifiable. XD

no problem, i totally understand the struggle with
shading XD it's easier on a smaller canvas XD

have you tried paint tool sai?
i really love the blending tools on there,
i use a water brush to put down colors and
then i use the blur tool to blend and repeat until
i build the details (:

i find it hard to do in photoshop on larger canvas
because my smudge tool likes to be a freak and
take forever to load and freeze the program XD

I've honestly just been using varying sizes and degrees of hardness with the mixer brush in photoshop XD

The scale on this...is..well...let's just say I regret my decision.

(4,000x4,000)

ah that makes more sense, never thought to blend
with more brush strokes instead XD
i just like to torture myself with my stupidity XD

and yeah i usually work on large arts on A4 350 dpi
which is 4000 x 2000 c:

i highly recommend trying paint tool sai trial (:
i use it to my pixels too, mainly my ps has become
something i use only for brushes that sai doesn't have :D

Oh I have paint tool sai, I miight play in it for my next few projects. :3

I still need to wrap my head around Pixels, River put up a great tutorial, but my brain still is like "Nuuu! you no ready"

It took me uhh... (I started drawing when I was maybe....16? a little bit younger? older? some where around there) so....wellll over a decade to even attempt shading. I only FIRST colored something two years ago, using flats. XD

This year is my very first at really tackling the whole coloring thing :|

Ooof, I've only barely started the background on this (been working on that as I need the break from the hoss.) The head and neck alone, color wise, have probably taken me well over a week o_o; and there's a second horse I have to tackle too! (Sorry to the commissioner for this taking so long ;_;)

thank you again, Madoka. If you ever do any JMs while you're doin your paint tool Sai'n lemme know :D I wanna watch you work!

Ahh, yeah he kinda does a leetle bit. I think it's the similarity in the dark dunnish/sablish champagney color though.
