I have a problem |

A pet problem.
I currently own two beardies (each in their own 40 gal enclosure), 7 bettas (all in 5 gallons at the least), 7 aquariums of various sizes (most are all natural planted), and a tarantula. Oh, can't forget the family cat and dog!
The beardies were rescues, I work at a pet store and someone came in asking if we'd take in animals. We can't, but that sure didn't stop me from saving these poor little guys from their small 10 and 20 gallon tanks :(
But yeah, I'm completely addicted to buying bettas. I thought working at the store would help, seeing as I'm main animal care and have to feed and water change 50-100 bettas but no. It makes me want more. They're like potato chips! You can't just have one.
Would the EV community be interested in pictures of my furry, scaled, and finned babies?

I'd like to add, 6 of the bettas are in divided 10 gallon tanks, so 2 bettas per tank because there is a divider. Not all of my tanks are just betta tanks :)

hello fellow rescue animal addict!
i too have a soft spot for rescuing animals in a rough spot. and having worked in a couple of feed stores only fed my desire to help animals. :)
during the short time i worked at those 2 feed stores, i rescued a dog, multiple chickens, a guinea pig and a handful of rats... most started out with issues that i worked hard to fix, be it health or mental.
the dog, a heeler mix was severely under-socialized and was a fear bitter. the owner was totally oblivious and an absolute nut, which made the dog worse. although he is not perfect, he is much more mentally balanced in my care. he has other dogs to socialize with and he, my malamute cross [a pound dog rescue] and golden retriever mix [who came from the local humane society] are my canine jogging partners and security alarm systems.
one of the chickens was brought back as a chick because the person realized the day after they bought it that it was a mistake. it is a wonder the poor little bird was alive! she now is a great egg layer for me. i also rescued a poor buff orpington pullet who had a very dirty bottom. turns out this bird's pubic bones made it so she pottied on her self. talk about a high maintenance chicken! she required extra care constantly to keep her healthy [flies are notorious for laying eggs on dirty chicken bottoms unfortunately]. i thought i would have to put the chicken down come summer but she actually started laying eggs which pushed her pubic bones apart and now she can go to the bathroom relatively normally. i am happy to say she is a happy, healthy chicken and enjoys following me around the yard.
my guinea pig was dumped at one of the feed stores. she had a terrible rasp, the poor dear! she was absolutely the filthiest guinea pig i have ever seen and her toe nails were so over grown they curled around multiple times. :(
i named her Cinderella. i took her home and cleaned her up. sadly, she died of cancer none to long after i got her. but i know her last few months were probably her best. she was a very spoiled and adored guinea pig!
and then of course, my rats. i know, i know. if you have never been around rats, i do not expect you to understand. but they are actually quite intelligent and trainable. so i rescued a trio from becoming snake food and my interest in them only grew from there. i enjoy learning about color inheritance and their genetics and rats lend themselves quite well to studying such things as they reproduce quickly and have a lot of variety. i am very lucky to have a husband who is so understanding of my love of animals!
anyways, i would enjoy seeing pictures of your rescued pets, Shinku! i am glad there are people out there with a passion for helping animals that are less fortunate in this world get to a better place, to a life they deserve. no matter the creature, big or small.

I sure would love to see pictures.
We have one betta named Phoenix. He's my mom's betta.
My two boys Thunderbird and Kuzco just passed away several months ago.
I plan on getting some females after we move back down to GA. I know I will end up getting a male, eventually. Because, let's face it they're gorgeous.
We've had SO many bettas in the past, I lost track of how many. They certainly are like potato chips.
Currently I have two long skirt Tetras (TJ and Mr. Skelly), two Tiger Barbs (Tuffnut and Ruffnut), four Zebra Danios (The Terrible Terrors), and the star of the tank our 6 year old female Rainbow Shark Toothless. We plan on getting some more Tiger Barbs, and maybe some other semi-aggressive fish. As Toothless can be a little too curious with new fish. But, she gets along great with all the current fish. We just recently (5+ months ago) got the barbs, and danios. We used to have cardinal tetras, neons, and dwarf gouramies. So, I always have my hands full. Not to mention the dogs, cats, chickens, and horses XD
Oh, and if you can't tell I love HTTYD.
I hope to get a Bearded Dragon some day, but life is a little too busy at the moment. Maybe in a few years, I'll get one. For now I'll stick with fish.
