Birthday Bash!

Today was Bear's 11th birthday! We made him a carrot cake, we decorated his stall with streamers, and he got SO many cuddles! We took him to see his "girlfriend" today also. She is located an hour away at a different stable. He is a giant spoiled puppy dog!

What do you guys do to celebrate a horses birthday?

I usually bring Reno lots of treats that he loves. And he's been a spoiled brat at the new barn, so I've learned from other boarders that he had some new favorite snacks (pears he's always loved, but he's insane for strawberry poptarts with frosting and sprinkles).

The humans who come generally get cake or cupcakes. One year we baked a chocolate cake with dark chocolate frosting and white frosting decoration to look like his star. Another year we got a bunch of cupcakes and decorated them to spell out "Happy Birthday Reno".

I don't own a horse, so there's really no one to spoil. But if I am taking care of another's four legged child over a holiday (such as Christmas) I generally sneak chopped carrots and apples into their feed. ^.^;

I once knew a horse who loved bananas so he got 2 bunches for his birthday. He chewed them up whole, then spit out each peel.
