Have You Noticed?

YES! I was actually going to make a post about this same thing but ran out of time last night. The majority of my foundation Andalusians do not show especially well, though there are some exceptions. And the majority of them are ones that transferred from the previous version of the game. Several of them were 'blanks' when moved over, since they were breeds that are no longer in the game (I had a herd of Halflingers because they were so cute... they're Andalusians now, lol). But yes, I have most definitely noticed this, and so I now send most of them to the riding school rather than show them. Occasionally I'll try to put five or six of them in empty shows so they have shows to themselves, just so I can see them win a little something, haha.

Subsequent generations are doing better though. And because of the adjustment to how stats affect things, I steer clear of 'special' treats, though I did that in the previous version anyway.

I am curious, does the discipline of the parents affect the offspring? - that is, if the parents are both dressage horses, does that mean that the foal will be better suited for dressage? I know it will of course be statted for it at birth, but I'm wondering if generation after generation of horses in the same specialty plays a role.

I think other than stats the parents discipline doesn't affect the showing aptitude of the foal. But I could be wrong.

It's meant to give a birth stat bonus I think.

I've also started staying away from Sugar/Hay Cubes and Peppermints now, as much I would love to boost the stats of my guys, it's not worth the massive drop in show results and eventually negatively impacting on a foal if it inherits those stats. Since showing is a huge part for my herd, it just makes me annoyed that a few stat (5-10 stats) difference in a stat area between a pair can make them differ a lot in terms of stats near breeding age.

although i didn't bring any horses over from EV1 i have noticed that before when i was dependent on mints and special treats for my herd to do well and now i rarely use them. i have about a bajillion hay cubes and sugar cubes from riding school and i bought 300 peppermints in february and i still have 150 lol

I passed on an otherwise very nice horse that was for sale last night, for the sole reason that even though he was statted for the discipline I would have wanted him in, he also had massive stats in all other areas - so much so in one area that it almost matched the 'correct' stats for his discipline. :( But yeah, since I show everything that is capable of being shown, he wouldn't have done me much good. So sad, he was really nice. :P

So, if you had a 400 pt horse with 50-60 pts in the wrong stats and changed specialty then changed it back, what sort of results (gains/losses) would you expect?

I was thinking of trying this but am afraid of the possible result.

Kaioti Blue Ranch - all gained stats will be erased and reshuffled into the appropriate stat categories. So if the horse was created/born with the 50-60 points in those categories they won't change at all, but if they are a result of mis-treating then they should move to the correct stats.

it's what i do with my young horses - set them as a specialty different from what their parents and stats are suited for, load them up with peppermints, and then switch their specialty at age 3. i keep track of the stats they were born with, and thus far they've all ended up with the same base stats in non-specialty categories as they were born with

Kahzie is correct.

I'd add that Free Falling has gone from 353 to 426 since Confessor pointed out what was wrong with her on the 2nd. So in five days she has gone up by 73 points, (including 1 stat bonus usage) I feel that this change was worth the 10k and 2 EVC but that is me personally.

My goal with my poor clydes is to get everyone to 500+ stats before breeding and I feel that she now has a good chance of doing so now.
