I'm seriously going to explode. Seriously.
I am moving this saturday from one side of the country to the other. My stuff left two weeks ago. My car leaves tomorrow. I still need to find a company to take away the furniture I didn't take with me.. I need to close my old bank accounts and open new ones. I gotta go visit my horse (not going to see her for like six months) and get some lovins in.

Just when I feel like I'm getting my head above the water - either something goes wrong and it takes 10x longer than it should - or I remember 15 other things I need to do.

I moved a lot as a kid but the this is the first time moving as an adult. Anyone got tips for keeping your sanity?

This is just the moving part! I'm still totally in denial that I'm ACTUALLY moving. I get clarity here and there and start getting uber depressed/sad. x_x *tears hair out and then esSPLAT*

Write out a list of what you NEED to do before you leave (everything you still need to pack up and take on your person, furniture you need to sell or toss etc.), write out a list of what you NEED to do when you get there (open a bank account, buy groceries), just make tons of lists. Level them by importance of completion, then you know just what you need to get done. Anything that can wait, don't worry about it now. Don't forget to get any bills (water, electric etc.) out of your name.

That's a good idea Lost - Honestly. I can't even.. the thought of when I get there.. yeah.
I have a list of stuff I need to do - I should probably put together a list of all the crap I need to take - or at the very least just shove it all in one location. It's just driving me nuts. I feel like there's a billion little loose strings and I'm just grabbing at each one simultaneously and dropping them as I pick them up.

You can do it!!

I've never moved on my own either, so I don't have much to offer in terms of advice... But for the furniture you're not taking with you, you could try posting it for sale on Craigslist? Or just say its free so its more likely to be gone faster, and say that they need to pick it up immediately. How long does the bank thing take? Would it be possible to keep your accounts with your current bank until after you've moved, then close them and open new ones once you're moved? Or if you're going for six months, is it possible for you to not have to close them at all? Because if you're moving back you're gonna have to go through the process all over again.

I've moved around quite a bit as an adult... I always had a little pad of paper that I could flip through, fit in a pocket or purse, with all the important stuff I had to get done. Keep about $100 cash on you just in case stuff hits the fan.

Also wine. Lots of wine.

But you GOT THIS. And, in this day and age, if you forget to do something, it's relatively easy to make a phone call or hop on the internet to take care of it (thank you data plans!). :)

moving is super stressful and we are moving back to arizona soon but thankfully living with my parents we just have to set up stuff more than shut it off here (:

one of my fav moving tips is to hang your clothes on hangers and then put a garbage bag around them so when you get to your place they are all ready to hang BD
look here

dont forget to forward your mailing address using usps.com and thats good for a year so in case you forget something its not going to someone else :D
