Chicks!

Hi! We had a broody Mama Hen and let her sit on some eggs. Even though there was an egg limit of 12, she sat on FIFTEEN! Now, three little chicks have hatched and I'm feeling pretty proud of our Mama. They sure are taking their time. Yesterday one hatched, today a black one had hatched and I had gone out to see the black one that my brother said was there. I spied the newly hatched chick trying to move around since Mama was taking up a lot of the space on the new one's side of the nesting box.

Will probably post more pictures of the chicks if anyone wants more. :) I am thinking of going back out to see how the new one is faring and see if it's drier now.

Guess what? FOUR CHICKS! And an egg with a crack. ;) Fourth hatched around 1:00PM EST.


The fourth born shortly after hatching. I didn't witness it hatching.

Awww how cute! XD I also have a broody mamma hen and we had to mark the original eggs because the other hen is supplying her with eggs we want to keep. Plus we have 12 baby chicks already from my 4h project and don't really need more babies right now haha.

Haha! If you don't want a broody hen to hatch eggs, just collect them before allowing them to start developing. We always mark our eggs, haha! Having chicks is so exciting!

We had easter chicks last time haha, my mom insists we leave those five eggs alone and let her hatch them but she can't have anymore. What's even better is none of the eggs were ever hers.

Yeah, some of these eggs aren't even this hens. But the Mama Hens don't care. They love their chicks. :D

AWWW!!!!!! We have chickens and four or five of them are broody, but I think they sit on imaginary eggs lol. XD
