Manipulation challenge

#39331 Posted on 2016-05-19 07:58:44

So since I hardly do any manipulations, I made myself a fun challenge! Making a manip with as much as my own photo's as possible! That's the idea, the execution already turns out to be quite hard xD

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

But, I do have some fine horse pictures, so at least I already picked a horse!

This picture is mine, but it is also stock, so if you like, you can use it as well, just click on it to go to my dA page.

I probably want this one as a background, but not quite sure yet... This one is not stock!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I already started cutting out the horse, I'm now starting to touch him up. This is the original horse, just cut out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things I did with this WIP
-Made him more masculine
-Made him thinner
-Added highlights and shadows
-Removed dirty spots
-Made him a bit more white
-Made the black spots darker
-Removed or reshaped spots, especially on his head
-Changed the shape of his mouth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I did this time:

-Made him look forward
-Changed his chest
-Changed a few spots and shadows

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Made him lower
-Changed his chest
-Added his eye
-Changed some shadows
-Changed the colour of his mouth area
-Changed the ears

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unfortunatly I don't think I am able to use one of my own background pics, it's just not right for what I want. I will be using other stock things of my own though.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you want to give me tips or some critique? No problem! I'd like your opinion and I want to learn from it! Just regular questions or a chat are welcome as well of course!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've added some new wips, this is my first time ever rebuilding a horse, I'd like your thoughts on it!
I'm really struggling with the eye now btw :')

I really like this! I could never do an image like it! I really like what you've done with his posture, it makes him look really relaxed. Maybe his background could be a huge oak Tree with grass etc, idk?

Thanks, first time of rebuilding a horse ever :D

@Rulebreaker
Yeah, that was my idea too, and I had a pic of a nice grassland with a huge tree in the middle, but the tree was to far away and it just didn't work out the way I wanted, so I'll have to search for a background, and yeah, that takes time :')

I can kinda picture him just lazing around under a huge willow with the leaves drooping around him! But like everything else, that takes time!

wow this is so cool! i love that you use your own stock :)
the only thing is that the neck looks a tad short for the horse to be 'stretching' as the head suggests as if the horse is reaching for something. if you didn't want to make the neck longer then i would thicken it up instead and maybe that will help since the horse has an arabian like neck but a heavy body build :)

i really like this and can't wait to see the end result :D
