gaining stats

so, I have a few horses that have been "stuck" in their level for a really long time because there are not enough horses in that level for them to gain stats. I understand that training was supposed to enhance this...but

some horses gain stats from shows and training and some just get stats from training.

so i don't know, what do you all do to combat this?
or thoughts?

I guess I'm just rambling, but I had a horse that I thought was high statted in the old EV and some of my "low" statted horses have caught up to him!!

My Arabians have been such slackers and I think it's for the same reason. Some of my horses have skyrocketed and most of their points have come from treating and training. It sucks! Wish I had tips, but I'm still new to the game! lol

My higher level horses are barely gaining stats. I locked them for a while but there hasn't been a single other horse to be racing R5 so when training was release I unlocked him. I guess going to gain as many stats as possible until breeding age then hopefully there will be more upper level horses by the time the foal gets there? I'm not sure what else to do.

On the bright side he has an insane amount of wins LOL. If only that meant something...

Besides feeding and training I don't know that there's much.. you should only need like 5 horses in a show to gain stats, do you have a few others in the same Grade and Discipline that can compete against each other?

I think I'll get enough horses there eventually...

I wasn't complaining. it just seems like getting horses to progress linearly, as they pretty much would in the old EV is going to be difficult.
which if that's the way it will be then eventually it won't matter that my higher leveled horses aren't going to gain stats quickly.

but if something changes, then it kinda stinks that they won't gain stats as quickly.

does that make sense lol?
