Ideas for basic account layouts?

#33466 Posted on 2016-04-24 00:02:00

I'm looking for ideas of things I can do to a basic account layout, given than only BBCode can be used. I'm both looking for ideas of things to do to my own layout, and wanting to compile a resource of ideas to help other people create their own layouts.

So if you've got a suggestion, or want to show off a layout you've made, or just have a question on how to code something with BBCode, please share here. :)

So far for my own layout I have a banner image with my name up the top, plus a decorative divider bar at the end, and the text in between.

I'm pretty code-savvy, too. That's no issue. :) It's just ideas of things to do that I'm stuck with. BBCode is mostly just limited to text editing, inserting images and links, so I can't do any of the wonderful complex things I usually do in my html layouts.

There is a way to do scroll boxes but none seemed to work on EV

Generally they are:

Scrollbox
Codebox
Textbox

In [ and ]

And to resize them the usual way to do it would be scrollbox=width, height

So I'm going to go back to my trial and error :) as none seem to like me

I think those ones might be non-standard BBCode, which means they'll only be present if the forum/site owner has coded them in, a bit like the horse or member BBCode that Abbey has implemented. The standard or default BBCode is limited to text editing, inserting images, and inserting links, so I only really have that to play with for a basic account. I'll have a play around with things and get an exact list of what code exists on here.

*edit* here we go. all the BBCode available on EV, and a list of thigns I've checked and found to definitely not work on here. http://www.equiverse.com/topic.php?id=34809
Unfortunately BBCode is very site specific, so what works on one site isn't necessarily what will work on another.

ack thats cruddy :( I am sorry, theres not a lot of options then

have you considered making something with the coding like this:

[*left][*img=URL][/left] putting text in the center - then copying over to right and whatnot?

it may be a lot of work but worth a try,

Each of the alignment tags will create a separate paragraph, one above the other, so that will format like this:

Some text here....

Yes but align with formed images that would somewhat fit around it - the only issue you would have is there will be breaks in the images :( it's tough being limited

I see what you mean. I reckon that's doable. I'll give it a go.
