Can you breed no breed horses?

I have currently got a stallion and was wondering if you could breed them? I have heard so many different things so im not sure anymore.

I don't think it works properly though (so they can still breed), but clearly Abbey doesn't want them to be able to :)

Tyika, it's from importing a horse from the original EV that is of a breed no longer available on the current EV
