Club contests?

#27817 Posted on 2016-04-06 20:04:23

I'm in 3 official breed clubs here on EV. Each of these clubs has at least 30 people in them. They're each also running fun contests like Mascot of the Month and other awesome events. I've entered all the great contests my horses (or myself) qualified for. What's puzzling me is that there are very few other entrants in these contests! Why? Why wouldn't you want to have some fun, support your favorite breed(s) & try to win prizes? I know some clubs don't have presidents, but many do and those presidents are working hard to come up with these contests to build the community spirit in their clubs.

I truly understand that real life comes first & that we're all busy, but take a minute or two to join in on your clubs' contests! They're great fun & you could win some great prizes! Thank you!

(For the record - none of the clubs I'm in asked me to write this. They had no idea I was thinking of making this post. I'm writing this because I want our EV club communities to have fun & grow. I hope I'm not in violation of any of EV's rules. If I am please delete this & let me know. Thank you!)

I think a thread like this could be a great way to stir up more interest in club contests. :) It certainly couldn't hurt! Maybe we could use this thread to discuss contest ideas/ways to get more people to enter contests?

I think it's just hard for every club member to see the contests since there aren't club newsletters...

I think this is something lots of clubs can struggle with, in EV or real life. It can be hard to get out there and known, and to really get an active following.

Clubs need advertisement, in the form of sigs, threads, etc. Also important is to have active fun-loving members! A good club president is also a must.

On EV I think, right now at least, the clubs don't have as many abilities as those on other sites do. By that I mean, as someone mentioned, club newsletters are a great way for the president to spread info. Right now we just have the club chats, and those don't seem to get used all that often. Without a newsletter or some form of communication that is more involved, I think people can feel left out or in some cases forget about things!

I love that you are pushing for people to get involved, that is awesome. :)

as president of the appaloosa club, I always try to offer contests to my members..I currently have 4 going ( 2 are longer in duration) and I try to ensure my forum topic is bumped frequently throughout the day and that the club website is up to date..
Its hard to get the word out to all the members...we could definitely benefit from a club newsletters that could be sent to all members with one click..I was actually debating today, trying to individually send club info to each member...sigh..could take a while...

I'm sure club newsletters would be a huge help, but we as club members have to do our part as well. There's a whole Forum section dedicated to our Official Club posts and all of the club contests are listed there for us.

I just want our sense of community to grow. I also want new people to take advantage of all the fun things EV has to offer.

As president of the Andalusian club, I would really, really like to see more people get involved with clubs in general, regardless of breed. It is discouraging, to some extent, to have little-to-no involvement from club members (I had 4 entries for April mascot and NO submissions for a club card - last month I had no mascot submissions, so I used one of my own horses, and only one club card entry, which I'm reusing for this month - next month I'll just make it myself).

I admit to dropping the ball on the second half of last month, but I'm trying to make up for it this month. I have contests in mind that I need to get written up, and I'm trying to figure a way to force my will on get other players interested in Andalusians so we can have a broader base. Although, Andalusians aren't exactly unpopular.

I had ideas for clubs in general, but they would require some revamping/new stuff added/things changed, and I think Abbey probably has better things to do. :D
