Okay this story needs some background context lol.
So back in 2017/2018 I used to ride at this barn. It's where I learned most of my riding from (rip me), and let me tell you it was horrible. The person who owned and ran the barn was abusive to both her animals and her students; I used to tell people she was the Abby Lee Miller of the horse industry for how emotionally and psychologically abusive she was to her students and wranglers (if y'all don't know who abby lee miller is she's the horrible dance instructor from dance moms). Well while I rode there I rode this absolutely amazing Fjord named Junior, he was literally the best horse on the face of this planet. Poor thing was neglected and flooded daily, but he had a heart of gold and we worked amazing together. Recently I discovered he had some major training and bucking issues I never dealt with with him, we really just worked incredibly well together lol. Well after we did a little show together, I asked the owner if I could lease or buy him. Bad decision on my part ig, cause after that she wouldn't let me anywhere near him, put me on multiple problem horses that kept causing me physical harm, and yelled at me about how I had "ruined" her horse's training (mind you, the "training" in question that Junior had gotten was literally a week of under saddle work before he was thrown at kids to ride). Needless to say, I left after that because I was in physical harm at that point with how many injuries I was getting from the horses she was making me ride.
Fast forward to now, I still think about Junior religiously but I know I'll never get back to him so I just try to not think too much about it. Well I was on Facebook tryna find horses to lease, and I saw a post about a Fjord for lease in the same area Junior was in. I was intrigued, so I messaged the person. We talked out some cost stuff, and today I went to see said horse.
Y'all guessed it, it was Junior.
A person who had also worked at that barn had had enough and convinced the owner to sell her Junior and then dipped and fixed all his health and training issues. She was looking to lease him because she got a new project horse and between training and work she hasn't had enough time to ride Junior. But seeing him today he looked so much healthier and spunky and genuinely happy and I couldn't be happier knowing I get to lease him now ahhhhh. She was so happy I already had experience with him and can trust me a lot more and I'm in heaven because she knows what I've been through in my riding history and we can both relate to having equine anxiety because of it, it's literally just the most amazing thing ever. And I just dragged myself out of homelessness to cut off my abusers and have been going through a lot and I genuinely couldn't ask for a better companion than Junior to help me get through some depression and anxiety I've been having lately. I feel like I am living my horse dream life rn fr fr
