Breeding Pairs

Just curious how you all set up breeding pairs? Do you do highest mare & stallion for stats or highest with lowest? Or do you do it based on nss? 

I mostly base it off conformation. Highest conformation vs. Lowest conformation. As in; if a horse is strong in the head; I pair it up with a horse who's head isn't strong.

They produced two gorgeous "twins" (used a breed again solution);

Notice how much stronger the colt is than his sister in some areas. That's the challenge of conformation breeding. You may get the worst foal ever; or you may get the most amazing foal!

The same as Feather. I focus on conformation, matching stronger with weaker conformation stats, and also try to match pairs which would give slightly lower NSS foals.

I don't deal with overall stats (except for NSS) when it comes to breeding, because it's easy to cumulate. I only focus on that the two horses have the same discipline.

I also (sometimes) base it off color. If it's a breed that only has two to three available colors (Arabians, Clydesdales, and Friesians for me), then conformation and nss is my #1 focus.

If it's any breed that multiple color options; then I have to think of all three! It's a challenge; but Feather has always loved a challenge!
