Sooo I don’t really understand the flaxen gene, I have horses with flaxen and it says in their colour name flaxen, but others with the same “ff” flaxen gene don’t say it in the colour name?

Only chestnuts ('ee') and their derivatives show flaxen. Any horse can have flaxen, but it wont show if they are not 'ee'.

Flaxen is a red-specific recessive gene. This means it only affects the appearance of chestnut-based horses and only when both alleles are recessive. This gene turns the mane and tail to a light, creamy color.
